Walking Dead dev "could do a great Star Wars game", also keen on Half-Life and Halo

Telltale now working on concept for Walking Dead Season 2

Love Telltale's The Walking Dead series? Keen to play more games in that vein, games that allow you to decide the fates of well-written and sympathetic characters, drawn from a well-established but sorely under-utilised universe? Telltale's CEO and co-founder Dan Connors is on the same wavelength - he wants to make a Star Wars game. Egad.

Connors and his cohorts are currently throwing around ideas for The Walking Dead Season 2, which may or may not include an import save feature. "Right now we are just starting to form the concept for season two," he told Red Bull in an interview. "This all remains to be seen but we are definitely figuring out how to carry the saves over."

Founded by veterans of LucasArts, the original home of point-and-click adventure, Telltale was founded in 2004 following the former's much-criticised cancellation of Sam & Max: Freelance Police. Over the years since, the studio made a name for itself revamping classic adventure franchises like Monkey Island and adapting film and TV series like CSI and Jurassic Park.

The critically acclaimed Walking Dead for Xbox Live Arcade is Telltale's first major hit, with over 8.5 million episodes downloaded to date, but it probably won't be the studio's last. Connors is keen to continue working on externally owned IP, including LucasArts' most famous series. "Coming from LucasArts we always felt we could do a great Star Wars story game," he told the site. "We also love the idea of building out a deeper story to a great game franchise, something like Half Life Stories or Halo Stories."

Intriguing, no? While the specifics of Valve's agenda for Half-Life are anybody's guess, there are strong precedents for Star Wars adventure games, and Halo's recent dalliance with episodic fiction at large suggests that a heavily story-driven Halo spin-off series isn't beyond question.

What's your mileage on any or all of this?
