If you’re like me, you’ve been to several gaming stores and have never seen a Wii available
for purchase. It’s a little ridiculous for a console that is 1.5 years old not to be available
anywhere. I had always wondered why, analysts at Wedbush Morgan believe they know why.
The U.S. economy is very very bad right now. If you’re a kid, you don’t really realize it, but
if you’re older living on your own, you have noticed your grocery bills rising, amongst other
things.

Wii’s are produced in Japan where their economy is currently stronger then ours in the US.

“With a weak dollar, foreign companies that sell their goods in the U.S. for dollars and then
convert those dollars to their native currencies get a smaller profit than if they sell their
products in countries with strong currencies of their own (such as Europe with the euro). In
other words, Nintendo makes a bigger profit on Wiis sold in Europe than on Wiis sold in the
U.S.”

So basically, Nintendo is offering more Wii’s to European nations because the Euro is stronger
then the dollar. But according to the analysts, demand is finally slowing in Europe to normal
levels. So who benefits from that? Us fat ass Americans! The extra consoles that were being
shipped to Europe should now begin to be shipped to the US.

So if you can’t find a Wii soon, just blame Europe.

For the 2nd time, I got the red rings of death tonight.

My first experience with the red rings was with a brand new system. As soon as I got home
with it, I set it up, turned it on and was greeted by the red rings. So I returned it and have
been using my 360 for a little over a year now. It's gotten progressively louder throughout
the year and in recent months random black lines would flash across the screen. And then
tonight as I threw in Mass Effect, it crapped out on me.

So all I want to say is fuck you microsoft for making a shitty console. Sure, when it works it's
great, but you forgot the important part, making it reliable.

So I am trashing the 360, selling my games and buying a PS3. I am done with M$ and their
shitty products. So fuck you M$, fuck you Major Nelson and fuck you Bill Gates you money
grubbing whore.

Viva La PS3!

As we all know, BioShock was released today. And what I didn’t know was it’s already on sale. I got out of work and drove to Frys Electronics here in Southern California hoping to snag a copy without pre-ordering. Much to my surprise I was able to pick up a copy for $49.99 for my 360. Not only that but there were tons of copies available. Go out and buy this game!

A quick search also showed that Circuit City also has it priced at $49.99 for those of you who don’t have the best store in the world to go to (Frys)

As usual, I haven't read past the 1st page so if this has been brought up already, I'm sorry for re-hashing it.

update: Thanks to lAboMbA for showing me this post was previously written by unstoppablejuggernaut. At least I brought some new info, Frys Electronics also has it priced at $49.99!

You can find the original here

This is nothing more than a pipe dream, but oh what a cool dream it could be.

As todays TV's grow larger and larger with better picture quality then the previous model, it is really enhancing our gaming styles. I remember growing up with my NES on a 13 inch TV, it was a privilege to be able to hook it up in our living room on our 'big' 26 inch TV. My how the times have changed..

Anyway, the point of this post is the future of gaming. As technology enhances seemingly by day, our gaming habits can continue to get better and more realistic. My wish is for 3-dimensional gaming. Here's my view:

Imagine sitting there at night with your 60 inch plasma playing the latest Call of Duty in 3D (yes wearing those stupid ass glasses). If the game was in 3D it could make you feel like you were actually there. Imagine having a grenade thrown at you then having it explode and having shrapnel literally fly right at your head. It would be heart attack inducing for the out-of-shape gamer, but for the rest of us it would be hell of a lot of fun. Each game could come with it's own set of glasses or Microsoft or some 3rd party could make a pair. Add an extra $10 to the price and make sure you can play both 2D and 3D with the same game.

Here's just a smidgen of research that I actually did. Recently more and more 3D movies have been released in theaters. It's something new and exciting and a great way to bring in a larger audience. In 2004 the Christmas movie Polar Express was released in both regular 2D and at 3D IMAX theaters. It was featured in 3550 2D theaters and in only 62 3D IMAX theaters. Being in just 62 3D theaters, the 3D version of the movie took in 25% of the total profit, thats about 14 times as much per 2D theater for the math whizzes out there.

I've never seen any game company talk about this, if they have then I'm sorry. It's just a thought that's been floating around my head for a while now. What do you guys think? Would you like to see 3D gaming at some point? I sure as hell would.
