Why is She famous

Kate Middleton has a keen interest in fashion, a distinguished education in art history and has enjoyed steady employment in her family business. No matter what fashion heights she might climb or paintings she may create or success she enjoys through her family's company, she will always be substantially more famous as the companion to the guy who's been at her side for most of the last eight years -- her husband, Prince William, whom she married on April 29, 2011. Kate Middleton is giving hope to young British women everywhere that any ordinary girl -- err, any ordinary girl from a family of millionaires -- can marry into British royalty too. Not since the late Princess Diana has an object of female royalty caused such a stir -- and for Middleton, her stir and stay in pop culture has really only just begun.

" He's lucky to be going out with me."

77 Sex Appeal

As the ultimate woman of desire for Prince William, Kate Middleton has been tantalizing her Prince since she modeled in front of his eyes in revealing clothing during a 2002 charity event. Though there isn't anything that makes her stand out particularly when comparing her to other British babes, she does possess a strong sense of style, which has suited her well at the many public events she's attended over the years. Tatler, The Daily Telegraph, Vanity Fair, Style.com, and People have all cast a spotlight on Middleton for her stylish choices in fashion, which bodes quite nicely for a woman who may yet become a full-fledged queen.

In addition to having a strong sense of style and the body to support it, Kate Middleton also has many other attractive qualities that make her an ideal member of the Royal family. Besides her athletic background and university education, Middleton is smart, sweet and by all indications, supportive. In a family that's been often hit with scandals, she might end up as the Royal voice of reason and a strong, steady influence on her man. As someone who has been in his life for nearly a decade, she was already influential in helping him choose his university concentration (geography) and has been a constant presence at his many celebrations. While it would be easy for many women to care more about living the Royal fairy tale than loving the Prince himself, she seems to truly care.

85 Success

There isn't a young woman in England who hasn't yearned for the chance to be part of the Royal family -- or to marry Prince William for that matter. For this achievement alone, Kate Middleton has already enjoyed an enviable amount of success. After all, who else but Prince William could take her deer hunting one day and introduce her to Mario Testino the next? While her previous endeavors have had her working for Jigsaw in accessories purchasing and for her family's company as a photographer, it's unlikely that Kate Middleton will ever "work" again at a real job. Instead, she'll have Royal power on her side and the ability to influence entire generations of women. For a woman whose idea of pop culture influence was the prospect of creating a clothing line for kids, being Princess Kate is definitely an upgrade.

With the promise of fame and fortune as a Royal comes a certain loss of privacy for Middleton, who is known in British circles as "Her Shyness." The adjustment from "regular girl" to "Royal girlfriend" and then wife has been challenging at times, as she's been forced to cancel her participation at sporting events -- like a 2007 charity boat race -- and have her own security detail due to concerns over paparazzi. That being said, her long relationship with Prince William of nearly nine years has surely helped to acclimatize her somewhat to the occasional paparazzi-induced perils of being a royal.

In early December 2012, the media received confirmation that Kate Middleton was pregnant with her first child.

Kate Middleton Biography

As the oldest child of three, Kate Middleton grew up -- at least initially -- in a family of frequent fliers. Her parents -- a flight attendant mother and a flight dispatcher father -- began their courtship after meeting through British Airways, but by the time that Middleton was five, her parents had started a new specialty supply business called Party Pieces. In due time, Party Pieces became a million-dollar enterprise. This allowed Kate Middleton to live a particularly fulfilling childhood, in which she explored sporty hobbies like skiing, running and field hockey, got a taste of school acting by playing Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, and became a Girl Guide. Because of her comfortable lifestyle, much of Middleton's formative education came at the pricey Marlborough College, where she was serious-minded, well-behaved, but also -- as fate would have it -- dreamy about a boy named Prince William. Though they hadn't met at this point, Middleton famously commented to a classmate once about how nice she felt he was.

After completing her schooling at Marlborough College, Kate Middleton moved to Scotland in 2001 to attend the University of St. Andrews. She chose art history as her primary concentration and through that she became acquainted with Prince William, who was a new student just like she was. In addition to that, they lived in the same school residence and as a result of their common interests and dwellings, they became fast friends. Rumors that they were a couple circulated -- first when the Prince attended a 2002 charity event where Middleton was modeling, and later when they were living together with two other students the following year -- but it wasn't until after a 2004 skiing getaway that they admitted being together.

Naturally, the idea of a new Royal couple -- especially involving the son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana -- created a media firestorm that began to grow. In the wake of their 2005 graduation from St. Andrews, there was intense speculation of an upcoming engagement -- so much so that pictures of Prince William and Kate Middleton were placed on celebratory cups and plates. The engagement rumors were false, but Middleton did get the luxury of her own security detail through the esteemed Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Department in 2006 and made a splash as a Royal guest to celebrate her beau's completion of his basic military training at Sandhurst. She also found time to work in the fashion industry as a buyer of accessories for Jigsaw.

kate middleton and prince william become engaged

Just when it seemed like they could do no wrong to each other, Kate Middleton and Prince William separated in the spring of 2007. The popular rumor was that a difference in commitment split them apart, but only a few months later they reunited as one after Middleton attended the "Concert for Diana" celebration for Prince William and Prince Harry's late mother. From there, Middleton was spotted hunting deer with Prince William, mingling at weddings with him, and supporting him anew during his RAF wings award ceremony and Order of the Garter presentation.

In 2010, Kate Middleton was working as a photographer for her parents' company when she quit and traveled with Prince William to Kenya. There, they finally sealed the deal on an engagement that everyone in their homeland was eager for. Offering the same engagement ring that his mother had worn during her own engagement, Prince William popped the question and, not surprisingly, Middleton accepted.

kate middleton and prince william marry

Kate Middleton went through one final rehearsal 24 hours before the wedding, as thousands of onlookers were already setting up tents outside the Abbey to prepare for the big event.

Middleton and Prince William married on April 29, 2011. Over a billion people watched Middleton step out of the queen's 1977 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI in front of London's Westminster Abbey. One of the most secretive pieces of information about the entire ordeal was Middleton's dress, which was finally revealed to have been designed by Sarah Burton, the 36-year-old creative director of luxury British label Alexander McQueen.

The bride is set to overtake Britain's Princess Diana as the most talked-about woman in the world's media, according to a study released by the Global Language Monitor. And that doesn't surprise us, given the media buzzfest that surrounded the royal wedding.

In December of 2012, after a year of touring the world and generally looking great in front of the camera, the media received confirmation that Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting their first child.
