This just made my day => "a busty woman with an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction". Thanks Jess. :P

Now, let's get serious. I'd rather save my dollars (Reais, but who cares about currency) and not buy those two last games, BUT, I got really interested in Six Guns so i'll check that one out.

btw, thanks for pointing out Dead Trigger on the Resident Evil episode, that game is awesome and probably a lot better then RE6. :D

Wow, Dinosaur Assassin looks horrible.   Random deaths aside, the dino hunter runs like he's wearing wrist weights and ankle weights -- while bearing some sort of digestive anomaly.

Is gamespot being paid to advertise mobile games? Cuz I don't know a single person who plays them...

Thanks for the great video Jess! I'll have to check some these out. Glad there's a place for the hardcore gamer to find mobile games that might pique my interest.

Well, each of this games have separate features that are somewhat comparable to the types of fun Far Cry 3 focuses on, but ill admit finding games that play mostly like far cry 3 on their own must be hard.

I mean, its not easy finding comparable games even in regular gaming consoles and PC, the closest comparison is Crysis, you could mention Battlefield except its multiplayer or with bots, probably Turok, Arma, Borderlands and a few others, but in the entire history of games, "open world first person shooter" is an uncommon genre.

@yeah_28 It isn't. I try to pick out elements of the game but this week's was particularly difficult. There are lots of good mobile games though.

@tempertress Well the bottom line really is that not a single game plays exactly like another except for very similar sequels or prequels, so all anyone can actually do is just pick separate elements of the game that attempt to provide the same kind of fun.

Thats why its important and good that you specified precisely because of what each of the games might be of interest related to far cry 3's gameplay, specially since some people appear to think that if the games arent a far cry 3 clone then the show has no reason to exist or you must be lying or getting paid to advertise.

Oh the internet...

Nope, not one of those games plays like Farcry 3.

Try the first Crysis. It's a FPS that has an open world feel to it (meaning that your not shoved down narrow ally's - you can approach the objectives any way you want), and it's also set in a Jungle/Forest.

hmmm, maybe I should work for Gamespot...

tempertress

@Zarkhaine Plays Like is a show specifically about mobile games that play like AAA releases. Crysis is not a mobile game so thereby it's not an option.

@tempertress Well why don't you do a show about mobile games that's completely separate - If the show is called 'Play's Like...', I would rather the show feature games THAT ARE ACTUALLY LIKE THE GAME YOU'RE SAYING THEY'RE LIKE - not any mobile app that is kinda the same genre. Maybe the name of the show should be changed to something to do with mobile games - then more people that are actually interested in mobile games might watch it.

Sorry for the confusion!

@Zarkhaine The deck for this show says "mobile games", the thumbnail for this show has a phone on it and the very start of this show has a phone in the intro.

I'm sorry if you didn't catch those, but yes, it's a mobile gaming show. Sorry for the confusion.

None of these games play anything like Far Cry 3. None of them. Why even make the video then? You know none of these games are anything like Far Cry 3, yet you desperately tried to make them fit. Why even bother? What's next, telling us that Angry Birds plays like Hitman Absolution because your job in Angry Birds is to assassinate pigs? Seriously, I've seen these videos make some pretty absurd stretches before, but this one takes the cake.

It's just insulting at this point. You know nothing on IOS or Android plays like Far Cry 3, so why even make the damn video? Why? Because your advertisers, who pay you to advertise on your sight, had a section in the contract that guaranteed them at least one video of "Plays Like" featuring their game? This is the only reason that I can think of that would explain why this video even exists.

Next up, how Cut The Rope plays just like Assassins Creed 3!

tempertress
tempertress moderator like.author.displayName 1 Like

@EKGProd I pick the games myself, no one tells me what games I should use for this series. Yes, it's difficult to find open world games on iOS but it's a good look at the kind of related options that you can find on mobile devices.

Actually Assassins Creed 3 has plenty of mobile options so, no. If you don't believe me it has it's own video.

@Evanduil  @EKGProd  @tempertress Assassins Creed 3 is the worst offender. Everything is glitchy as hell, with horses jumping up and down, guns that fly out of nowhere, people suddenly disappear and appear, it's a fucking mess. Even enemy shadows look like a toy soldier. Though it's still a fun game with tons of activities. I haven't finish the game yet but think I know how the game will end as many people are disappointed in it but never actually say what the ending is: Desmond's going to die to finish the trilogy is he? And the next games forward will star new characters that's presumably created as your own character? At least it's better than Mass Effect 3, though I'm surprised that these two ends up sucking in the end.

@EKGProd  @tempertress  @Kaz32 It's funny then that Skyrim is infamous for it's bugs, and Red Dead is famous for how awesome it was. Skyrim and Bethesda in general are synonymous with bugs, and Red Dead is just known as awesome. I never saw one bug in Red Dead, and I put 130 hours into it. I put 6 hours into Skyrim and the game broke itself.

EKGProd
EKGProd like.author.displayName 1 Like

@Evanduil  @tempertress  @Kaz32 Red Dead Redemption is way, way, way more buggy than Skyrim was. I put 70 hours into Skyrim, and ran in to one bug that forced a restart, and a couple more that were just annoyances. I put 20 hours into Red Dead Redemption, and had to restart about half a dozen times because the game froze. I also had to restart at least 10 missions because the AI got stuck and wouldn't let me proceed. Not to mention characters falling through the ground, missing audio, broken controls that would suddenly un-invert themselves.

Red Dead Redemption is one of the buggies games I've ever played. Skyrim doesn't even come close.
