MediaFire debuts for Android, offers users 50GB of free cloud storage

Back in August, I wrote about cloud-storage service MediaFire, which was offering a whopping 50GB of free space, no strings attached.

Well, there were strings in the form of certain limitations (see below), but it wasn't like you had to provide a credit-card number or start paying for the space after, say, six months.

Yesterday, the company unveiled MediaFire for Android, which joins the iOS version in giving you mobile access to your cloud drive. And new users still get 50GB of storage, free of charge.

Like other apps of its kind, MediaFire for Android lets you view documents … Read more

Get a $117 Mac app bundle for free

Let's be honest: Mac users don't usually get a lot of freebies.

Sure, there are software bundles from time to time, but usually they cost around $50 -- nothing free about that.

That's what makes this deal so special: it doesn't cost a dime. For the next two weeks, StackSocial is offering the Mac Freebie Bundle, a collection of eight Mac apps with a combined value of $117 -- and a total cost to you of $0.

What's included? Here's the rundown:

Kogan announces $149 unlocked Android smartphone with 5-inch screen

Want a smartphone on the cheap? Usually that means going the subsidized route, signing up for a two-year contract that'll cost you a small fortune by the time you're done.

The Kogan Agora is an unlocked Android 4.0 smartphone priced at $149 (plus shipping). Due to arrive in the U.S. next month, it'll support no-contract, pay-as-you-go plans from AT&T and T-Mobile. Oh, and it has a 5-inch screen.

To put that in some perspective, the similarly phablet-size LG Optimus Vu 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 sell unlocked for $860 and around $700, … Read more

Get Windows file manager XYplorer for free

Windows Explorer has never been what I'd call a user-friendly tool. In fact, I find it pretty unintuitive. Yet it's what Windows users are stuck with for moving, copying, deleting, and organizing their files.

If you've often wished for an easier, more robust replacement, today is your lucky day: Giveaway of the Day is offering Donald Lessau's XYplorer 11.90 Windows file manager free of charge. It normally sells for $29.95.

WARNING: Do not click the big blue Download button that appears alongside the description of XYplorer. That's actually an ad, and clicking it … Read more

Archos announces $119 Android tablet

Archos announces $119 Android tablet

For the last couple months, rumors have been flying that Acer and/or Google would introduce a $99 tablet.

Will it happen? That remains to be seen. In the meantime, Archos just fired the first shot in the tablet pricing wars: the Archos 70 Titanium. It goes on sale in February for $119.

Although Archos has yet to post a product page (which is why there's no link), I saw the 70 Titanium at CES, and just received a preliminary spec sheet from a company rep. I'd say its main competition is the original Kindle Fire, which Amazon … Read more

Get one year of Web hosting for $10

Get one year of Web hosting for $10

This is a rerun of a deal I posted last year. It was sweet then, and it's equally sweet now.

Is 2013 the year you make it big on the Web? Only if you have a home for your Web site. It's easy to find hosting packages for less than $10 per month, but 10 bucks for a whole year? Nice.

For the next 48 hours, Web Hosting Hub is offering your first year of Web hosting for just $10. That's $50 off the usual price.

Update: Sorry, folks, someone forgot to flip the switch: The deal … Read more
