Final Fantasy XII

Theory of N! It's been over a year since we posted something from Dustin, who brings us this short-but-peppy FF12 arrangement. Before I go any further, I must STRONGLY PIMPIFY his new album Beep Boop available on his Bandcamp page. It's awesome and worth well more than the buck he charges, especially track #3! Definitely check it out, you won't be disappointed. Of this ReMix, he writes:

"MAGFest X, although sad that it's over, left me super motivated to make more remixes. The first of which, completed only one day after returning home, is this neato Rabanastre remix done in a much different style than the originals. As tedious as it was (I enter everything by hand/point and click since I don't own a keyboard), I had ton of fun making this song. Lots of synthy solos, chip interjections, and various random shimmery things. I hope you guys have as much fun listening as I had creating. Enjoy!"

Somebody get this guy a keyboard!! ...or not; with results like this, why mess with success and introduce the bizarre possibility that efficiency and/or dedicated musical hardware would cramp his style. At just a hair over three minutes, this is a funky, dirty little jam - you can tell Dustin had fun makin' it, and it's equally fun to hear all the modulation, character, detail, & attitude he packed in. Fishy writes:

"I friggin' love FF12 and I friggin' love the lowtown music, don't care who knows it. Lydian represent. Really cool arrangement, love the rhythms and the funking-up thereof."

Emunator concurs:

"You've got a lot of really lively melody lines dancing around each other and, despite working with some pretty basic, generic samples here, every synth has a lot of energy and life to it. This is how you do it when you're working with a basic sound pallete. Your use of fills and transitions is also really impressive here. Totally digging this! Short, sweet, and on point."

The original source is peculiar but more exotic & mysterious, whereas ToN's version is a zany, nasty jam, delivering on the promise of the title pun and definitely providing something unexpected. Fun mix that shows off the artist's personality, which you can hear much more of at theoryofn.bandcamp.com!

Rabanastre (Lowtown) is my favorite track from Final Fantasy XII, THANK YOU!
I really enjoy how your track incorporates it.

Excellent song.
FFXII had great music but was very short on anthemic, memorable, catchy tunes. It was all a little too ambient...
As we all get bored with the constant reworkings of the same old classics, maybe this will be the future of ocremix. Taking these big modern works and putting the beeps and bops back in them.

FriedZombie, this is FFXII not FFXIII. Unless that was a typo.
Also great work MR. LAGALY

Never been too huge into FFXIII mainly because of the battle system, but I definitely enjoyed your heavy synth take on that theme. Enjoyable all the way through.

Well, this is certainly different!
Song sounds a bit thin at times, but the song feels active for the most part, probably its most endearing trait. It's an enjoyable listen overall.
