Fallout TV show in the works?

Bethesda seeking trademark application for an "ongoing television program set in a post-nuclear apocalyptic world."

Bethesda Softworks may be developing a Fallout-branded television show. A new trademark application from the company (spotted by The Vault) is listed as an "ongoing television program set in a post-nuclear apocalyptic world."

Bethesda has not made any such announcements and a representative from the company declined to comment.

Last week, Fallout 3 voice actor Erik Todd Dellums teased that he would reprise his Three Dog role for an upcoming Fallout project. According to the actor, he was given permission--presumably by Bethesda--to give the announcement.

A rumor from August 2012 suggested Fallout 4 would be set in Boston, Massachusetts. Bethesda developers reportedly have been "scoping out and researching" the city.

The most recent Fallout title was 2010's Fallout: New Vegas, which was developed by Obsidian Entertainment and set in a postapocalyptic Las Vegas. Its predecessor, Fallout 3, was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and took place in Washington DC and the surrounding area.

Jeez, why all you  people think of Walking Dead? yes Fallout has some zombies, but i think it has a lot of potential, and a lot of factions, subfactions, relations, weapons, characters than WD. Also 2nd season of WD was a shit. all blah-blah and zombie cameos.

@Lestat_jio IKR?  Soap opera.  Higher than average quality, but soap opera nonetheless

this does actually sound good - providing they get good writers, its all about the writing people. but there's already enough in the series to get some neet ideas.

Just imagine Fallout 4 running the Skyrim engine, except slightly modified for a Fallout styled theme interface. Like how Fallout 3/NV used Oblivion's engine but was using a Fallout theme interface. I'll just be happy if I can sprint in Fallout 4.

@Void_Kross jeez man, thants not the engine, thats te gameplay.. also, you know what a mod is? or maybe im talking to a xbox player?

It certainly has potential, but they would need to be clear what they were aiming for before starting - bands of raiders mutilating bodies and capturing people to sell into slavery doesn't tend to appeal to sensors and TV execs for mainstream viewing.

@Avenger1324 Look at The Walking Dead or even Being Human. Both have very high ratings and show tons of mutilated dead/blood/guts/gore.

Based on the Nuka Break series, i say this has REALLY good potential to be an awesome TV show. But it's like it was said in previous comments, they need a team that's passionate about Fallout, a nice fat budget and they need to partner with a studio that won't chicken out on strong themes. Fallout is an adult setting and it should be treated like that.

In fact, just fund the Wayside Creations Nuka Break guys. I'm sure they could do a hell of a TV show with a bigger budget.

If someone still doesnt know it, i would recommend having a look. Keep in mind episodes are short and they don't have much money to produce it:

@ocoisadificil1 I just started watching this series, the episodes are a little short but the they really nailed the setting and characters and the production values are epic for youtube. Would really love a Fallout tv series if it was handled with respect.

Can't remember any good tv show set in a post-apocalyptic setting after a nuclear war disaster.

I hope it comes soon!

Fallout Vegas was a buggy disaster, but I'm hopeful fallout 4 will be awesome.

@porkchopgamer As if Fallout 3 wasn't a mess when it came out (and still is actually). Can't really blame Obsidian for the crappy Gamebryo engine or the god-awful QA by Bethesda.

@porkchopgamer That's what happens when you let Obsidian Entertainment touch something. Bethesda is known for buggy games, but Obsidian Entertainment is the undisputed King of Bugs.

I don't know... I guess I don't have anything against it since I doubt it can cause much damage, but there just seems to be so much potential for blandness and the soul to be lost for me to get very excited about this.

@Ratatoskr321 I actually like Revolution, it's at the very least a fresh take on the "apocalypse" theme rather than yet another Mad Max - wannbe..

Normally I'm against this kind of thing, but actually, Fallout could make a great show.  I imagine something akin to Walking Dead.

hystavito

Sounds reasonable, post-apocalypse shows are quite popular, or at least there has been a lot of them in recent years.  They can use the Fallout brand, and capture more market, while at the same time not alienating the mainstream non gamers who dont know anyway.

PoofMaester
PoofMaester

I think it would make a great show, i mean with all the diversity in Bethesda games (Fallout and Elder scrolls mainly) you could have a very good and possibly long running TV show, If they could get someone like HBO or Starz they could also have a bigger production budget. I would love to have Fallout 4 but at the same time i like the idea of video game series getting movie/TV adaptations, if done well.

as long as it's not a SyFy release I might give this a peek --- I've yet to see anything decent come out of SyFy --- everything they do looks like it's got a budget of about $25

TT_audi_34

I'm 50/50 on this. I'd love to watch this TV series but...... why can't we just have Fallout 4? However, I'm sure they're already working on Fallout 4, or at least brainstorming ideas before they begin working on it. Skyrim has one or two more DLCs coming but that means it's Fallout's turn to take the helm. If next gen consoles are getting teased at E3 then I'm sure FO4 will be there.

Could this be the moderately funded Jericho that we've been waiting for ?! Will they feature more than one track for the high tension scenes ?!
