Deep Silver apologizes for Dead Island Riptide bikini statue

People are making a really big deal out of this for no reason. Its just a bust, if you don't like it don't get it. Its not like they freaking killed somebody and used their body

people are so stupid how is this offensive!!?????? ok lets stop making zombie movies and toys hell lets just cancel The Walking Dead and Die Hard and harry Potter or Star Wars because there is violence and fighting..

I wasn't offended Deep S. I just found this as bad taste and get the standard version. Oh well, let the bad press do some good.

Why are they apologizing to the "Dead Island community and the wider gaming community", it isn't those communities that will complain, it's the people that want to ban violent games but have never played them that have made this an issue!

How the hell can anyone who has played any zombie game get offended by this??   Is the sole object of most zombie games to kill in the most imaginative way possible ?  when the walking dead meet a particular nasty end , do we as game players say " OMG thats so repulsive, Im never playing this game ever again" OR do we say something along the lines of "OMG that was awesome lets see if i can out-do that death with the next one"

... I could see where people would be offended but it doesn't seem out of place when you consider what their first ever trailer was. It's supposed to be about an island paradise that's been completely defiled. I guess I could see the appeal if you were a fan... Certainly not something I want on my mantel.

Parents: "Hey, we don't want to be forced to buy this M-Rated game that my child can't get without my permission! It has this clearly sexual figure that blatantly represents the game I plan on buying for my underage child and I don't want him seeing this kind of thing!" Who's offended by this? Certainly not people who understand what they were going for. 

This statue would have been a great conversation piece. Zombie  Bait, i like it been that in most horror movies, the first to die in the group is the ditsy chick probably in a bikini. a bit on the offensive side, but they kinda nailed it for the genre fans.

The only issue here with this torso is that it's tacky as hell and does not in any way shape or form urges people to buy limited addition of their game. If Deep Silver is gonna apologize, they should apologize about how stupid and tacky this idea was, and if any offense was done, it should be because of the fact that this is a REALLY dumb idea to promote their products.

Two perfectly rounded... bras, wasted. I abhor grotesquery, but I do think it's more tasteful than a chainsaw with guts still attached. If it were a full zombie statue with that kind of figure and attire, I may even be interested. I hope they don't take too much heat because of this.

I don't see the issue. It's a zombie game. The game came with a model of a dead persons torso. >>It's a zombie game.<< Seriously..this world is becoming way too p@#$%. I'm so serious. It's sickening.

4. you do one better --- advertise a statue of say --- your hero burning down an orphanage

5. post it online

6. sit back and wait for the internets to go up in flames

7. apologise for #4

Are they apologizing because it's lame? Because as far as I can tell that's what's really wrong with it.

What exactly are they sorry for? They can't even say themselves, so they just keep saying sorry instead of providing any explanation as to the offense.

I wasnt offended or grossed out in any way. I thought it was stupid. But i dont feel that Deep Silver has to say sorry to any1. It was a way to get the game noticed. It succeded. Will i buy the statue?? No. I dont need it nor want it. What is that statue gonna do for me but sit somewhere & collect dust? How is paying extra for that statue gonna impact my experience on playing the game??? None @ all. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this game when it comes out without having a lame statue to look @. But to each their own.

It's wonderful to live in an age where everyone gets their panties in a giant wad over some of the dumbest shit on the planet.  Crybabies all over the place nowadays.  People can't say, do, utter, move or even motion in a manner without offending someone.  People need to grow a pair or lock themselves inside their homes and leave the world to the big boys and girls.

I bet the biggest problem that they had was with the fact i'ts a woman and i'ts kind of sexual I guess? I'm not personally offended but I think the statue is completely stupid... I mean, statues, at least for me, are for successful franchises like Halo, the elder scrolls, bioshock etc. not Dead Island. I mean it's a nice game, it's fun to play and stuff but the story is kind of lame and the the graphic engine is terrible (specially when it's about the guns).

It's definitely pissing off some feminists, that's for sure. I think it looks sexy!

Why apologize? It represents the nature of the game. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I hate country music, but I don't expect Billy Ray Cyrus to apologize for creating the travesty known as "Achey Breaky Heart".
