Three Part Battle Orientated Add On Announced  [ Comment ]
Print News | Category: PlayOnline News
Vanafest was held two weeks ago and a three part add-on scenario for Final Fantasy XI was announced. The official site for the add-on was since launched and we will be bringing you more news on this as it comes about. For now here is the official post from the PlayOnline website.

An announcement was made today at VanaFest 2010 for "Abyssea," an all-new three-part series of battle-oriented add-ons.

A parallel world existing beside Vana'diel, Abyssea is a land fraught with perils and home to savage hordes of heretofore unseen creatures. Ferocious, towering NMs, new-look HNMs-even the garden varieties will confound would-be challengers with their unfamiliar and formidable powers. These and a whole host more await hapless adventurers with open arms and voracious maws.

In Abyssea, concerns such as the over-population of battle areas and the need for large time investments will be a thing of the past. The development team is hard at work creating a world where parties can engage in rewarding battles with powerful foes and collect prized equipment with the least of fuss.

More details are available via the following links:

  PlayOnline: Harvest Festival 2009  [ Comment ]
Print News | Category: PlayOnline News

trees bedecked in gold and crimson hues, a crisp breeze in the air and the mouthwatering aroma of pumpkin pie wafting from the windows of taverns and homes...
Autumn has come to the three nations, and with it, that most devilishly delightful of seasonal celebrations, the Harvest Festival!

But all is not well, as honest-to-goodness ghosts are plotting to use the guise of the annual masquerade to skulk into town and wreak unholy havoc on the unsuspecting citizens. Brave adventurers who join with the moogles to drive out these demons can expect to receive due reward, in the form of a splendidly ghoulish lantern said to ward off malign spirits!
How did people come to attribute such supernatural powers to a simple lighting device carved from an overgrown gourd? The answer lies in a timeless tale passed down in Windurstian lore...

For the full story—and details on how to participate in the festivities for yourself—read on!

  PlayOnline Notice Regarding RMT
Print News | Category: PlayOnline News
Here is a notice from Square about RMT and suspicious advertisements:

We have confirmed that RMT and suspicious site advertisements are being sent in large quantities as tells in game.

Regarding these issues, we ask that when you place a GM call to report them, that you please include the name of the character that sent you the tell in the call summary. Additionally, while we are investigating all calls that come in, we estimate that the number of calls will continue to increase by a considerable amount, so we ask for your understanding if a GM is unable to personally respond to these issues specifically.

To counter the increase of these issues, we are planning to introduce a filter to block suspicious tells along with the next version update. We ask for your patience and understanding in this matter.
