Known in the US as "Torneko: The Last Hope," the PlayStation rogue-RPG from Enix (developed by Chunsoft and Matrix Software) came with another fantastic soundtrack from Dragon Quest composer Koichi Sugiyama. This time, instead of having any sort of "suite" (symph, synth, or otherwise), we just get a plain old OST, direct music used from the PlayStation game. The good news is that it sounds pretty decent, especially since the game was made so late in the PlayStation's life cycle.
Like the last soundtrack, the motif from the song "Torneko's Theme" (first written for Dragon Quest IV) makes appearances all throughout the soundtrack. A couple other Dragon Quest melodies are used throughout the soundtrack too, as is to be expected.
The end credits arrangement is incredibly strong. It may be my favorite track on the album, though it's really a hard pick.
I will say the same thing here I said about the previous Torneko soundtrack: while lacking all the grandeur and majesty that main-series Dragon Quest soundtracks hold, the musical quality of Torneko's Great Adventure is still quite high. If you want something from Sugiyama that's a little more whimsical, you've come to the right place.
