Scouts revving to compete in Pinewood Derby

GLENCOE — Jerry Coleman couldn’t wait to whip out a newspaper clipping from the 1970s to show his son Alec and his friend Clayton Lantz, both Glencoe South School second graders. Both boys were excitedly preparing their Pinewood Derby cars for the annual car racing tradition on Jan. 13. Park Ridge hospital delivers first baby 23 minutes into 2013

PARK RIDGE — It only took 23 minutes for the first baby to claim a 2013 birthday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The hospital announced its first baby of the year was born via cesarean at 12:23 a.m. Tuesday. Robyn Ali, public affairs and marketing coordinator for the hospital, reported that the girl, named Jacklyn Herrera, weighed in at 5 pounds, 12 ounces. She is the daughter of Arlington Heights residents Aileen Herrera and Eduardo Jiminez, and joins two older sisters. The hospital gave the baby’s parents a gift basket that includes bottles, bibs and booties, Ali …
