Which package to use

• Introduction Package: This is an example of a typical TYPO3 installation that bundles an XHTML template, the TYPO3 source and some well-known extensions. Download this if you want to try out TYPO3 and play around with it, or just to get a basic site with a predefined template up and running (beware though that the Introduction Package uses the CC BY-NC-ND licence and therefore must not be used for business or commercial purposes). To install, you need a webserver on your local machine or a hosted webserver.
  You can try out the Introduction Package online at http://demo.typo3.org.
• Goverment Package: The Government Package is a collection of best practices to enhance the level of web accessibility. The contents are rendered in HTML5 based on the famous HTML5Boilerplate. Navigation and content elements are defined to be accessible for screen readers and keyboard navigation. HTML5 semantics are used to add more meaning and structure to the accordant elements. Since web accessibility guidelines are strict on contrast ratio and readability, an alternative view to use a different, contrast enhanced stylesheet, has been integrated to the Government Package as well.
  You can find a demo of the Government Package on http://government.v4.demo.typo3.org/. It's purpose is to demonstrate Frontend HTML5 and Accessibility features. Currently, it does not offer access to the Backend.
• Blank: This the TYPO3 source and a skeleton site. Download this if you're going to build a new site from scratch.
• Source: This is just the source of TYPO3. Download it if you have a running TYPO3 installation and would like to upgrade to a new version.
• Source + Dummy: This the TYPO3 source and a skeleton site. Download this if you're going to build a new site from scratch.
• Dummy: This is just a skeleton site. Download it if you already have the TYPO3 source and just want to set up a new site.

Installers

These installers install a complete Apache / MySQL / PHP environment with a TYPO3 package for testing locally on your computer.

The installers don't necessarily contain the latest versions programs, so you will need to update them yourself to make your installation secure. The purpose of these installers is to get you started as quick as possible. They are intended for testing, but must not be used for any production use!

Please note that we don't offer support for any of these packages!
