Editor's View

The Page Module is the view in which most site editing of pages and page content is done. The page in the screenshot uses of the extension Templavoilà.
This module shows a preview of the selected web page as it will appear in the Frontend. You can edit page content directly on the previewed page.
This module shows all the content records stored for all items, templates and extensions used on the page. As some extensions (e.g. the news extension tt_news) save records on a remote page or in a system folder, the List Module is useful for viewing and editing these otherwise hidden records.
When adding a new content element the editor has to chose between different content types. Page content types can be changed any time from the pull-down 'Type' menu and you can use multiple content elements on a page.The most commonly used elements are text and image.
The Rich Text Editor (RTE) allows WYSIWYG editing of the pages. Resembling other word processors, users find the RTE intuitive to operate. Administrators can configure the RTE to display stylesheet classes and filter unwanted HTML.
File management is an integral part of the system. Files can be uploaded, renamed, copied, moved, deleted, even edited online. Other information such as size, date of upload and file type is shown with the image. Selecting an image folder enables a thumbnail view. Administrators can configure TYPO3 CMS to mount any path on the server and then allow certain backend users/groups to store files in those folders.
In TYPO3 CMS you upload your images to a single place (see: filelist) in a single size. When editing a content element, the picture size can be assigned and the system will crop/scale the picture to the given size. The click-enlarge-option allows the user to see a bigger version of the image, e.g. with a nice design inside an image lightbox (as used here).

The access module provides an overview of the permissions of every user and/or usergroup. So a user or usergroup can get permission to edit properties of selected pages, but not for deleting those pages. The same applies to page content.
Administrators have the possibility to expand the TYPO3 CMS core functionality by installing third party extensions. With the extension kickstarter wizard, the framework for new extensions can be built very easily. A basic frontend output can be created, further programming is necessary.
The Install Tool ensures an easy installation and upgrade process of TYPO3 CMS. With it, many of the powerful features can be configured, e.g. the image rendering engine and many other configuration parameters. The Install Tool also provides tools for analysis and bug-tracking of the installation.
With the Permission Management, administrators give specific permissions to specific (groups of) users. You can mix and match permissions with groups, users and sub-groups as you like.
TYPO3 CMS poses almost no limits to configuration options and granular permission management. With the user admin menu, admins can simulate other users to see if their settings are correct or help clients with their features.
