Very Twin Peaks, very Angelo Badalamenti; I kept looking over my shoulder half expecting Kyle MacLachlan to be enjoying donuts and coffee and listening along with me. Newcomer Polar, hailing from Norway, writes:
"Hello good people! I was supposed to submit this tune some months ago, but it ended up taking up space on my harddrive until recently when I decided to add some touches to it. I feel it's now ready to be submitted, and I hope you like it :) Giana Sisters was one of the first games I got for my c64, and I remember being fond of this melody when I was a kid."
This is a VERY mellow, comforting piece that totally conveys its title and feels like returning home after a long and trying journey to familiar surroundings and memories. The acoustic guitar and vocalizing both give the deliberate and perhaps a little new-agey arrangement a more intimate, human feel. Jiggin writes:
"very mellow, very nice. this track may be a tad overlong, and the connection to the source may drop off towards the end, but even then it's well over the bar. I like how it evolves slowly, while still keeping its "chill" sensibility."
I suppose we have a fair number of chill, downtempo tracks on the site, but not too many of them are major key and this relaxed; not as an insult at all, because there's plenty of rewarding detail to focus on, but this piece would be perfect to fall asleep to after a stressful day at the office, etc., as it's both transporting and soothing at once. This game had a great score and remains one of the more accessible C64 titles out there, and it seems to keep generating some pretty fine ReMixes as well. This one's got a deep, resonating kick that feels like a heartbeat, but hopefully your own pulse remains a bit faster while listening, or you might in fact be dying (see a doctor). Great first sub from Polar, whose initial arrangement is ironically warm and cozy.
Please do make a comeback, this is good music.

Nice guitar work, toward the end when the vocal harmonies are juxtaposed with the soft drumbeats and the acoustic guitar notes, it's pure bliss :-) The ending caught me off guard a little but in a good way.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for some very thoughtful, mellow music!

You know what I mean.
It's pretty good, very nice, smooth and soothing, but all in all, I don't really care for it.

After a couple of months of having it on rotation, I found I enjoyed it more and more, feeling the relaxing, return to simplicity vibe, and the happiness of being able to chill. Homecoming. :) It moved me a little more every time I heard it, until I finally decided it was a favorite.

I'm loving this. Not sure how I feel about the percussion at times. Perhaps they're a bit MIDI-ish. It's not too much though to take away from the overall song. I wonder if more acoustic sounding drums would work better, but I don't know.
The vocals fit the song's style perfectly. You have a very nice voice. Harmonies put this song over the top in a very nice way. There's so much sweetness at the end, so much that in the right mood and setting, would definitely bring emotional tears to my eyes.
Very nice mixing and instrumentation all around.
Good job on this! I will most definitely be listening to this again and again.
