Thanks for all the positive feedback on Pokémon: The Missingno Tracks - being largely unfamiliar with the games' music, I was surprised personally at how quickly I warmed up to it. I suppose I should have suspected as much, especially in the hands of such capable musicians, coordinated by director The Damned. Congrats to you all; you've certainly sold me, and I imagine you've made a lot of Pokémon fans happy and also introduced the series' music to a lot of new ears.
We started this flood with Diamond, and we're gonna end it with more Diamond, but before that I'd like to thank whoever remarked on YouTube that this album sure has a lot of UK artists on it - I hadn't realized that ProtoDome, Fishy, and WillRock are all UK. With Lee repping Australia, Mattias being Swedenese, and Rozo hailing from Finland (among others), I think this is probably our most international album to date. It's also worth pointing out that, although it was posted preemptively way back in 2007, 'TEEM.ROKIT' is also a Missingno track (see what I did there?) and deserves your love. Now on to Mr. Troise, who lovingly writes:
"I thought I'd go for a Trad. Jazz/Bebop style for this source because the chord sequence is just gagging for it. You do know the reason I'm sending all these is because The Damned makes us don't you? The original problem I had with this was making the saxophone 'mesh' with the other instruments- I hope that now all the instruments fit together pseudo-realistically in the soundscape."
At 1'45" this is a short piece, and I swear it sounds like the opening theme to an early 80's sitcom about an affable English butler that befriends an American family... wait, that's Mr. Belvedere... Sax meshes great, it DOES a mean a thing because it DOES have that swing, and pseudo or not, the production sounds purdy solid. Deia writes:
"For some odd reason I started thinking that this reminds me of the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, but a little more upbeat. Now I cannot get that out of my head, so I am blaming you, Proto. Love the style arrangement here, and having the sax take the melody was a really good choice. I wasn't expecting much out a mix less than 2 minutes long, but after a few listens I have to say this is just the right length. Plenty going on, and it doesn't overstay it's welcome."

"Good production; nice balance. Part-writing is great; good interplay between instruments. That's precisely the kind of thing good jazz needs."
And The Missingno Tracks was precisely the type of album OCR needs... two months and a few days into 2011, and we've already released THE ANSWER, Heroes vs. Villains, Missile Master, and Missingno. Not too shabby, eh? Awesome work by all involved; it's been an honor hosting, posting, and listening to all of it, and there's more where this came from!
Discussion: Latest 15 comments/reviews; view the As the writeup says, this is more 'sitcom intro' than jazz club stuff, which actually works in its favour. It's silly, sunny and most of all, its an undeniably fun listen while it lasts.
It's also important to note that the running time clearly does not indicate laziness on the mixers behalf. There's actually more happening here than a lot of 4:30+ remixes out there, and the mix feels longer than it is. The sax performance is particularly droolworthy. But alas, the track as a whole is still a lightweight in terms of its ambitions.

Quoted for absolute truth. *mashes the repeat button*. While I personally prefer your more upbeat chippy-only works to your jazz works, your jazz stuff is still sublime. I would have liked to had it be a bit longer but, then again, great songs bear repeating. Keep up the good work!

nah, I'd never do such a mean thing to the judges. ;-) glad to see that super-short, yet awesome mixes like this (that manage to get the 'point' across in such a short timespan) can still make the cut. you definitely got a knack for that. :lol: speaking of which, what ever happened to that little chippy 'town guide' or whatnot mix? that shoulda been on the album.

I think it's pretty incredible how artists potentially halfway across the world from one another can collaborate on such an amazing project. You guys are awesome for making it happen.
