Anglers fishing on all Manx freshwaters must be in possession of a valid licence.

Full details of the Duties, Regulations, terms and conditions and categories of licence relating to freshwater fishing on the Isle of Man can be found on the Inland Fisheries section of the DEFA website.

The Inland Fisheries Regulations 2011 came into operation on 10 March 2012 and anglers are advised to be fully aware of these new rules before going fishing.

Anglers must print their licence immediately after purchase and carry it at all times whilst fishing. Failure to produce a valid licence on demand to an authorised person constitutes an offence under Section 66(1) of the Inland Fisheries Act 1976. It is also advisable to also carry another form of identification with you when you go fishing.
