If the recent rash of cannibal murders hasn’t got you sufficiently worried about doomsday, maybe a truckload of new zombie and apocalypse games will. E3 is rife with the undead this year, so here are some of the TEOTWAWKI titles you can expect in the coming months.
Note: Take as much as you can from the videos, some of these won’t make it out before 12/21/12.
ZombiU – Wii U – TBA 2012
Summary –
Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, ZombiU puts players in the middle of London circa 2012, where an outbreak has infected the population, destroying their humanity and turning them into mindless monsters preying on the flesh of the few remaining survivors. This fear-fueled first-person shooter takes all the terror, chaos and tension found in the best of the horror genre and adds original interactive elements, including a unique death mechanic that puts players in the body of a different survivor each time they die, allowing them to track and take down their old, infected characters, recover their equipment and see if they can stay alive just a little bit longer this time.
The Last of Us – PS3 – TBA 2013
Summary –
Survive an apocalypse on Earth in The Last of Us, a PlayStation 3-exclusive title by Naughty Dog. Here, you will find abandoned cities reclaimed by nature. Here is a population decimated by a modern plague. Here, there are only survivors killing each other for food, weapons, or whatever they can get their hands on. Here, you find no hope.
Joel, a brutal survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together if they hope to survive their journey across the US.

Lollipop Chainsaw – Xbox 360 – 6/12/12
Summary –
Lollipop Chainsaw is the 'un-deadly' story of sweet and killer zombie hunter Juliet Starling and her quest to uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak. With her wickedly awesome chainsaw in hand, Juliet slices, dices and splits her way through hordes of the undead, but soon realizes the horde is only the opening act to a festival of zombie rock lords determined to kill the chainsaw wielding cheerleader.
Resident Evil 6 – Xbox 360, PS3, PC – 10/2/12
Summary –
It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President's side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. Summary –
Surviving is much more than a daily routine in the original cinematic puzzle platformer Deadlight, where players cross the American west coast in an apocalyptic world where there is no reason to exist but no alternatives for those who cling to hope.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2: Zombies – Xbox 360, PS3, PC – 11/13/12
Summary –
From Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia, “If you like zombies you’re going to be really happy with what we’re doing with Black Ops 2″ Mark Lamia said and he added “it is the biggest most ambitious zombies ever”. Black ops 2 zombies mode will be another game entirely. This year the nazi zombies are going mad and want to have fresh soldiers slices.”
Parallel Zombies – Mobile – Q3 2012
Summary –
From Ryan Long, “Like our other games, it will be location based, and a deeper RPG experience for mobile devices in a market dominated by casual games. However, Zombies is more action-based with real time battles and gruesome sound effects.”
Dead Island: Riptide – TBA – TBA
Summary –
TBA... I’m guessing there’s probably zombies and a beach - if that seems like a lot of TBAs to you, it’s because the game’s developer, Deep Silver, showed up to E3 with not much more than a logo.
