Game of the Month February 2012: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
What do you get when you combine a World Series winning pitcher, a New York Times bestselling author, an award winning comic book artist and toymaker, and an award winning designer of pen-and-paper roleplaying games? You get our February Game of the Month, that's what.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning combines all of the things traditional RPG players love into one massive, single player package: huge amounts of loot, tons of quests, a big world to explore, and a visceral, action packed combat system. Although opinions of the staff are mixed over how well these elements came together, no one can deny that the debut of this brand new intellectual property has enough tantalizing elements to make us anxious to see what comes next. In an industry dominated by sequels and spinoffs where the most anticipated and best selling titles always seem to have a number on the end of their names, it is exciting to see that the debut game of 38 Studios wasn't afraid to dream big.

Whether you spend hundreds of hours experiencing the world on offer here or only just enough to bridge the gap to the next big sequel, we're certain we haven't seen the last of the Amalur universe.
