Strange to me why they decide to port 12 instead of 13, nice extra futures for Tab, but I think they should've done 13 for Wii U

so the new more powerful next gen machine doesnt employ any of the other 2013 game mechanics essentially being fifa 2012??

 @itchyflop It's a port.

itchyflop
itchyflop

 @hangman000 its nice to see the "port" of what essentially already exists on the wii on the wii u, however Nintendo fans and wii u owners should be demanding more, i know i sound impulsive and i do agree with wii u arriving now, Nintendo would have known fifa 13 was in development. Its a "next gen machine" and it hasn't shown off any "next gen" features as yet. I like Nintendo products dont get me wrong and i see the next gen prepherials (2nd screen), samsung have done it with their wireless tv's, though i see Nintendo's price tag is a lot less. I dunno port or not they could have brought fifa 13, poor effort Nintendo.

 @yodante so how does it work then ??? how do a software company produce a game without any hardware to run it on ??? Bottom line it should have been fifa 13

itchyflop

 FallenOneX no disrespect how is it ?? EA make the software ti run on Nintendo's hardware, Nintendo dictate what and when they want it.

 @itchyflop  It's not Nintendo's fault, it's EA's. Happened with the 360 and PS3, now for the Wii U.

You can't make the same argument here that you make for other games when it comes to innovation.

To get a decent score in a new COD or Mario game, you're *supposed* to need something fresh and new to keep the gameplay different, even if that just means different levels and more weapons/powerups.

In a FIFA game, people play it because they want something as close to football as you can get.

If you start putting power ups in FIFA then you lose marks because that's not the *point* of the game.

Of all the people complaining here about it getting a decent score, do they even know what they would do to improve it?  (With the exception of a few missing features in this iteration).

In that case it deserves a high score, even if it's more or less the same thing over and over and over.

so they give the vita version 5.5 but this version which is very similar because new features like first touch aren't implemented still gets a 7. the back touchscreen shooting in the vita is a brilliant implementation but the gimmicky stuff for the wii u gets more praise. seems biased to me.

Really don't understand. With every major sports title, or blockbuster hit, Nintendo releases the same game with a few less gameplay features, but adds a few mechanics features like gamepad managing. I don't know if it is a contract issue where those developers are catering to xbox/ps3 and kind of leaving Nintendo empty.

My Advice to Nintendo is.. Scrap all those developers A-Z .. They're just giving you 80% of the product.

Take all that extra money and give it to new developers making their own sports games or trying to develop their own unique ideas.

A new developer could take the game in a new direction with whole new gameplay mechanics.ALSO, YOUNG developers with passion trying to do something new and different.

EA will eventually have no choice but to offer you a fully developed game or will lose out a huge portion of the market.

TO Be honest.. I <3 professional sports games licensed with real players. BUt some of my favorite sports games have been Nintendo exclusives

Why not just made a Soccer game based on Asian sports soccer leagues?? I thought Japan played great int he world cup. I would probably buy that personally

ADDITIONAL IDEA: You could make it called "Japanese league" VS MLS soccer (not sure what Japanese league is called). In order to get American fans and Asian fans.. Maybe also include African or Middle East teams. NOT including European teams because I don't know what the contracting is like.BUT obviously it would be great to include European teams in too ORR South American ;) and Mexican

 @iwoof they have endless pots of money. I dont understand it either, the wii u is the "new" boy in the virtual playground boasting next gen qualities, surely it can handle what the older 6th form ers,, ps3 and 360's can !!! hmmm...mixed views on this new wii u

thehawk3986
thehawk3986

 @iwoof I don't know if it has to with contractual issues with dev teams and nintendo or is just simply the fact that many of the devs have not had an immense amount of time to work on the nintendo iterations of the game. Madden was developed in 6months for the Wii U, and although it is a decent product, many of the features and new physics engine were completely stripped out. I think next year all the consoles sports titles will be on the same level as far as features in the game. I just hope more people start buying the Wii U so the online gameplay community could grow. I tried playing madden online and was shocked to see only 45 people online and 8 searching for matches. No one was in the lobbies at all. smh.. Im rooting for the Wii U though I hope dev teams really take the gamepad and make some really cool additions to some of these games

lol that penalty shooting mechanic is simply ridiculous,like that no one can a penalty in the game since everyone will just shoot in the top or bottom corners

Why Fu*k would you make a fifa game which is stripped so badly down EA?its would've been better if you hadn't tried in the first place,I am pretty sure the Wii u can easily support those tweaks and make the game look good as well at the same time,just goes to show you what EA's Business plan is.........

why are people blaming any of the shortcomings on the wiiu? i think it's just a ridiculously bad porting job done by some other party simply for the sales and the monies. the only thing that means that the wiiu is awesome is the gamepad enhancements and the fact that it looks just as good

JoSilver
JoSilver

        Is there actually a reason some features were omitted? I don't play FIFA (Or an sports game for that matter) so I really don't know exactly what those features are. I can understand if they were left out because of the Wii U system itself, that would answer my question quickly and bluntly. I also don't own a Wii U so I don't really know about Nintendo Network and all that stuff but as far as I know the Wii U should be capable of the same rich online gaming experience as the the other consoles. (With obvious difference and plus and minuses across the board)

        If it is the Wii U's fault and not EA's for simply not including them in the Wii U version then ignore what I'm about to say but if not why are people blaming the Wii U. Couldn't those things be added in updates and DLC (Again don't own a Wii U so couldn't say but isn't the Wii U capable of all that.) If that is the case then people are wrongly placing the blame on Nintendo and the Wii U port.

      If it is the Wii U's fault then the above mentioned is a list of things that Nintendo needs to severely address. If not then Hopefully for Wii U owners and FIFA fans it will added later on.

abHS4L88
abHS4L88

 JoSilver. Right now it's because the Nintendo Network is still too new and apparantly that makes it hard for developers to use that for thing like Uultimate Team Mode and Call of Duty Elite, but it should most likely be fine when the next Fifa comes out.

So, in conlusion, third party developers add some tacked on gamepad features to their WiiU counterparts neglecting fundamental optimization. This is what you get...

 @pcty This is true but Ill tell you one thing...Gamespot Fuels it based on how they create these pointless "bash" articles,which they never really do  to the extent that they do it on Non-Nintendo systems,kinda makes it seem bias even if it isnt.I come on to gamestop to hear about interesting games and read reviews not to see a dead horse get beaten contsntly giving the same opinion in so many different articles and reviews.

 @IanNottinghamX I just can't agree with that, the editorial about the shortcomings of the WiiU was nothing abnormal and it expressed the opinion of the author, just like an editorial should.

"Next gen" console has fewer features than the 6 and 7 year old ones?  Sounds awesome.  Gamepad usage seems completely non-intuitive.  You can't take your eyes off the screen or your fingers off the sticks when you would most need to in order to utilize the gamepad.  I do not understand how Nintento stays in business...Oh wait, Mario.

josecer
josecer

 @MusclesJAM EA said that their didn't had the same features as the other versions because it's their first game for the plattaform. So shut up hater

MusclesJAM
MusclesJAM

 @josecer So now we all of a sudden believe every word that comes from EA's lying faces?  Look, I'm not going to shut up because you don't like what I have to say.  EA would not have released the game for Wii-U if they weren't optimistic about it making a profit.  But the amount of effort (i.e. time and money) a developer puts into a game certainly tells you a lot about how confident they are about that profit, or at least how that profit compares to how much it will sell on other consoles.

If you think that EA, or Activision, or Epic Games, etc., are going to release watered down versions of ANY of their titles on next gen Microsoft and Sony systems, you are crazy.  I have a feeling that will be the norm with the Wii U once the other systems hit store shelves.  It doesn't mean that Nintendo is going down the drain (though self-admittedly I hope they do).  It just means that its clear that 3rd party developers are less invested in Nintendo than they are in Microsoft and Sony.

In summary, it IS Nintendo's fault that this game is not what it is on Xbox and PS3, because if the developer had high expectations of this version of the game, they would have invested more in making it a truly 'next gen' experience.

Chico86_basic
Chico86_basic

@MusclesJAM@josecer

EA is a typical third party stereotype posture towards Nintendo then. So, they don't have confidence in their system, release bad ports and it's still Nintendo's fault? You either invest on the console or you don't. There should be no excuses for lazy ports if the WiiU can handle and that's the bottom line.

josecer
josecer like.author.displayName 1 Like

 @MusclesJAM Look, Wii U is captable of ALL FIFA features, expectations. Fifa sells waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay a lot only in the Wii, so they had expectations. People buy their games every year. Wii U is a new plattaform so, for developers it's new. Just look at Metro Last Light, at the end Wii U didn't had a "horrible" CPU it was the developers that were breaking their heads with the code, because it was a new console. I bet you that the next FIFA version for the Wii U wiil be exactly or better thatn the other ones aside.

Micropixel
Micropixel

 @MusclesJAM Didn't EA develop the game? So why are you blaming Nintendo and not them?

MusclesJAM
MusclesJAM like.author.displayName 1 Like

 @Micropixel They made the console, and it is clear that EA does not have confidence that this new console will have a meaningful impact on their bottom line, which is why they didn't put much effort into porting it to the Wii-U.  Lack of developer confidence that games will sell is a dead-givaway that the Wii-U is flawed.

People said the same thing about the Wii, and it sold a boatload.  However, I doubt Nintendo will have the same luck this time.  Come talk to me and make me eat my words when they come out of this generation on top.

josecer
josecer

 @MusclesJAM  Are you an idiot? EA didn't had confidence. Confidence that Fifa 13 wasn't going to be good for the Wii U. Fifa sells a lot on every console per year. It even did on the Wii. EA gave an expalantion. Inform yourself.

Indeed, they should just be like the others and release consoles that are basically weaker PCs with a slew of generic games all trying to reach a "broader audience."

Of course you don't understand, that's why you're not in business nor do you work for it because you hold the ideals of someone who'll crash the industry.

MusclesJAM

 @abHS4L88 You seem a little offended?  Look, every company milks it's first party games (Drake's, Halo, Mario, etc.).  And the big developers milk their biggest games (FIFA, Madden, COD, etc.).  They're all trying to make a profit.  But Nintendo has been a capital offender in the past 2 console cycles, where they completely alienate 3rd party development by refusing to stick with what is known to work.  I realize innovation is important.  I think the move and the kinect are great ideas to capture the casual market.  But neither Sony nor Microsoft implemented them at the expense of ruining their core-gaming ability.  If Nintendo isn't a full console generation behind, they are at least a full generation to the left, because they refuse to release products that are up to par with the competition, and they will continue to be left in the dust because no big name cross-platform games will come to their console.  They MAY make a profit, I'm not a finance guy, but they could certainly make more profit if they made their system attractive to the big name games.

It's something they're taking very seriously, the eShop even has a dedicated indie section highlighted on the front page.

Right now it's a bit bare bones, only having indie titles and full retail games, but they have made promises to build upon it, even Reggie said he wants to see Gamecube games on there.

 @abHS4L88 I was unaware of Nintendo's strong indie developer following.  If that is the case, I can see that being a strong selling point.  I know Microsoft and Sony both need to improve their indie markets, but I was under the impression that Nintendo wasn't even in the discussion, since their online system has always seemed like so much of an afterthought.  Do they have a strong online game market?

Granted the Wii was tough for 3rd parties, despite some really great games coming out, it didn't get the attention it deserved, but with the Wii U, they're already making huge strides to change that by basically giving the entire launch window to 3rd parties, highlighting their games, and personally working with them to ensure that development goes smoothly.

Also remember the type of company Nintendo is compared to Sony/Microsoft, I have no doubts they know what "works" but it's more of a question of "can we support it? Do we have the resources for it?" I think anyone who says that the Wii U should've been what Nintendo first came out with are just being entitled brats who have no knowledge of business and think that a pure videogame company can just put out a console super powerful with no repercussions.

We're hitting a point in the industry where AAA titles are becoming more damaging than they are beneficial due to overwhelming production costs, many exeeding movies. This is where the Wii U could possibly shine, with developers who don't have the resources to bust out massive budget games. Even indie developers are already favoring Nintendo above Microsoft/Sony due to the ease of working with them and the benefits Nintendo gives them, making them much closer to Steam than XBL/PSN.

So while the Wii U may not be a console filled with AAA 3rd party titles, it could very well be a haven for all the other developers, and it's undeniable that many of the most creative games of the 7th generation came from the small developers.

5SI-GonePostal
5SI-GonePostal

 @abHS4L88  @MusclesJAM No they will just release their same gen console 6/7 years later with only slightly better horsepower than what is currently available, and in typical Ninty style only look after 1st party releases.

abHS4L88
abHS4L88 like.author.displayName 1 Like

 @MusclesJAM

I'm actually not using that against them, I'm just saying that just because a company does something once doesn't mean they'll repeat themselves over and over.

As far as the Wii U goes, nothing is confirmed still. Yes those "specs" were revealed but take note that details surfaced saying that those specs were taken from when the Wii U was in "Wii Mode" which could very well explain the underwhelming figures taken. Reggie even stated that they won't be showing off the true power of the Wii U until later on. Also we don't know how powerful the next Playstation/XBox will be so you can't say that the Wii U will not be able to match up to them until those consoles are out and real.

Also a good chunk of "core gamers" will go wherever they find the most games they prefer, and if that console is the Wii U, then that's where they'll go, not whichever console is the most powerful. I don't know how many comments I've read of PC gamers who ditched Sony/Microsoft but still stick with Nintendo.

MusclesJAM
MusclesJAM

 @abHS4L88  @5SI-GonePostal Microsoft released ONE console that had a single notable overheating problem, which did not stop it from becoming the king of this generation.  Sony has released ONE console that was overpriced at release and hurt its overall sales.  This is TWICE in a row that Nintendo has released a console incapable of matching up power-wise with its competitors.  I find that to be a critical mistake, unless they are dead-set on giving up on core gaming and embracing casual gamers only.

abHS4L88

 @5SI-GonePostal

Lol, you have a lot to learn about the videogame industry and history itself.

So okay, based on that, I can easily say "Oh but Sony will just released a grossly expensive console from now on that'll eventually run them out of business, and Microsoft will just release consoles that'll fail on you until a new model that fixes that comes out 4 years later."
