Harmonix and Microsoft officially announce new dance and athletic-themed games; release dates TBA.

LOS ANGELES--Over the weekend, domain name registrations hinted that Microsoft would use its E3 2011 media briefing to unveil Dance Central 2 and Kinect Sports 2, and that's exactly what happened.

Today at the company's briefing, Harmonix officially confirmed that Dance Central 2 is in development. The news comes as little surprise, as the Boston-area developer confirmed that it would be unveiling a new title at E3 2011.

According to the Harmonix representative showing the game, all original Dance Central songs can be imported into Dance Central 2. Additionally, the game will sport a new campaign mode, as well as simultaneous multiplayer dancing.

Microsoft also officially announced Kinect Sports Season 2, a sequel to the million-selling Kinect Sports. According to Microsoft, skiing, baseball, golf, darts, tennis, and football will all be included in the new game.

@zzamaro Sometimes people play for the sake of a good time. I played a kinect for the first time yesterday, and it was fun with a group of friends to act like an idiot and just have fun. Please remember, while everyone else is socializing, having fun, and being "casual", you are alone. Don't ever discount games just because they aren't hardcore.

of all the Kinect games, Dance Central was one of the few that looked interesting and played well when you watched the people playing it.
