New Google TV product from Asus to be shown off at CES, 'Nexus' device may be on its way

via cdn2.sbnation.com

2012 was supposed to be a big year for Google TV, and while that didn't quite pan out, Google is planning to start 2013 on the right foot at CES. The search company has revealed that new Google TV products from Asus, Hisense, and TCL will be shown off at the convention. The most promising of those three is undoubtedly Asus, which was already rumored to launch its Qube Google TV set-top box at...

MSI Slider S20 convertible Windows 8 ultrabook finally coming in Q1 for $1,199.99

MSI Slider S20

The MSI Slider S20 was one of the more bizarre Windows 8 designs we saw back at Computex this past summer, and it wasn't clear whether it would ever make it to market. The predicted third-quarter release windows came and went, but now MSI claims it is ready to release the Slider S20 in Q1 of this year — though the company didn't offer any more specificity. We do know how much the Windows 8 slider will cost, however: $1,199.99 will get you an 11.6-inch, 1080p touch-sensitive display, an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. The 2.2-pound device also includes a 720p webcam, ethernet, and two USB 3.0 ports. MSI will be...

There's still no exact launch date for this oddity

Reasons to be excited

via blogs.cofc.edu

The fiscal cliff looms. Wars rage around the globe. Apple Maps wasn't everything they promised.

Yes, there are reasons to despair. To doubt. There are reasons to worry and wonder, and if you're unconvinced or unsure that there are troubles in the world, you can always fall back on familiar, modern malaise or good old boredom. It's so easy to worry, and it's so easy to get bored. It's easy to go dark.

But you shouldn't do that. You should be excited. You should be ecstatic, overjoyed, energized, invigorated. You should be hopeful, because there are also reasons to feel hope, and if you're down in the dumps about some pressing problem...

Get excited for a world that we’re making, together with technology, that’s unlike any world that’s ever existed before

Will Arnold Goetzke's Smart Cord save the US economy?

Photo

Arnold Goetzke has a simple idea. And if you pause long enough to talk to him, he'll tell you about it. The idea is this: an extension cord you can control from your phone. Simple as that. Maybe you're sitting in your chair and you want to impress...

SpareOne hands-on: the phone that runs on a single AA battery, holds a charge for 'up to 15 years'

Gallery Photo: Spare One hands-on photos

While we'd be hard pressed to recommend it as a primary phone, the SpareOne makes a compelling case as something to toss in your car's glovebox or keep in the house in case of an emergency. In fact, that's one of the main selling points of the Xpal-distributed GSM device, which is powered by just one AA battery that will give you up to 10 hours of talk time should you need it. As for looks, the candybar-style handset lacks an LCD of any sort. Instead we find a unique design that embraces its battery (constantly visible through a layer of plastic) yet comes off as fairly plasticky and cheap feeling — though we weren't expecting a metal...
