Thanks for your interest in joining the Bloomsday race crew and helping over 50,000 runners, joggers, walkers and wheelers have a fun and successful journey! Below are eight different opportunities for volunteering for Bloomsday:

Speaking of volunteers, here's a peek at the Bloomsday Board of Directors (and Race Director):

Carolhunter

Carol Hunter

President of the Lilac Bloomsday Association from 2010-2012, Carol may be best known for her role as Chair of the Corporate Cup, overseeing all elements of one of Bloomsday's most popular features. Carol also serves on Bloomsday's Charity and Promotions Committees. Along with her volunteering, Carol has completed 32 Bloomsdays and was 13th in her age group in 2010. Carol is a partner in the law firm Eymann, Allison, Hunter and Jones.

Conniebischoff

Connie Bischoff

A long-time Bloomsday volunteer and Board member, Connie was the first female president of the Lilac Bloomsday Association, and now serves as Treasurer. Her responsibilities include supervising data entry before and during race weekend, and she also serves on Bloomsday's Charity Committee. In her professional life, Connie oversees Residential Builder & Development Loans for Washington Trust Bank. In 2006, Connie and her husband Max were inducted into the Bloomsday Hall of Fame.

She is Bloomsday's Secretary, Archivist, and helps coordinate the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. She also oversees one of Bloomsday most popular features, the on-course entertainment. In her free time, she is a teacher and girls' distance coach at Mead High School.

Stevejones

Steve Jones

Steve is a long-time Bloomsday participant, volunteer and Board Member who was recently elected to serve his third two-year terms as LBA President. Steve has also been the LBA's legal representative for many years. In the lead-up to Bloomsday each year, Steve helps fine-tune T-shirt ordering, solicit sponsorship, and oversee advertising and promotions. After completing Bloomsday each year, he helps validate elite results. Steve is a partner in the law firm Eymann, Allison, Hunter and Jones.

Jonathanneill

Jon Neill

Jon worked as an intern at the Bloomsday office while attending Gonzaga University, and after joining the Board years later he served a two-year term as president (2007 & 2008). Jon has served as the elite athlete coordinator since 2004, overseeing the invitation, travel and hospitality for dozens of the world's best long distance runners who compete at Bloomsday each year. Jon also serves on the Promotions Committee. He is a partner in the law firm Eymann, Allison, Hunter and Jones.

Alodenthal

Al Odenthal

As the Board member in charge of security, safety and communications on race day, Al handles some of the most crucial aspects of Bloomsday. His background as a former Deputy Chief of Police serves Bloomsday participants well as he manages a wide variety of race day logistics, keeping human and vehicular traffic apart and flowing. Al served as Board President for the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Bloomsdays.

Jerryoneal

Jerry O'Neal

A college anthropology professor by occupation, Jerry is one of the longest serving members of the Board. He remembers all the struggles with meteoric growth in Bloomsday's early years, and with his background as a Montana rancher he helped design the system that allowed for successful timing of the herd of Bloomsday finishers. A past Board President, (1992, 1993, 2002, 2003), Jerry serves on both the Charity and Promotions Committees.

Markstarr

Mark Starr

Mark is a dedicated volunteer at dozens of Spokane events. At Bloomsday his primary responsibility is managing the Trade Show, making sure move-in and move-out go smoothly and exhibitors have a good opportunity to interact with the public. On race day Mark delivers equipment and supplies to the start, finish and the course. In his non-volunteer hours he is a fixture at David's Pizza and Famous Ed's restaurants, which he co-owns.

Max Bischoff

Max Bischoff

Max has been a Bloomsday volunteer and Board member for longer than he'd like to admit. His main area of responsibility is the finish line, but he has also served on the start and course committees. He is also a member of the Promotions Committee, and on Saturday of Bloomsday weekend he helps with logistics of the Marmot March. In 2006, Max and his wife Connie were inducted into the Bloomsday Hall of Fame.

Garymarkham

Gary Markham

Gary has served as chair of the Corporate Cup Tent Party for a decade, and in recent years he's also supervised other activities in the post-race area in Riverfront Park. He is also on the Promotions and Charity Committees, and in 2010 Bloomsday launched his brainchild, the School Challenge, for middle school and high school teams. Gary is a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance.

Donkardong

Don Kardong

Bloomsday founder and past president (1982-84) of the Lilac Bloomsday Association, Don's primary responsibility through Bloomsday 2004 was as elite athlete coordinator. He accepted the position of Race Director--the only full-time, year-round paid position at Bloomsday--in the summer of 2004. Before taking that position, Don worked as a writer for Runner's World magazine and as Executive Director of the Children's Museum of Spokane (now Mobius Kids).
