Bands regroup after injuries

QUICK TAKES

October 09, 2008|From staff and wire reports

Injuries have forced the bands Linkin Park and My Morning Jacket to cancel performances.

Linkin Park has scrapped its China tour because lead singer Chester Bennington suffered a back injury.

The band didn't say how Bennington was hurt but posted a statement on its website saying that the group and others would make donations to China's reconstruction efforts in lieu of playing the concerts that were intended to raise money for the victims of May's deadly earthquake in the Sichuan province.

Meanwhile, Jim James of My Morning Jacket took a tumble off the stage in Iowa City, Iowa, Tuesday night, suffering what a band spokesman said were "traumatic injuries to his torso." That's causing the band to postpone a few shows in Chicago that were on tap this week, and two benefit performances for Sen. Barack Obama.
