Why Lego: LOTR skipped Wii U
Warner Bros. rep says "primary reason" is Traveller's Tales was already working on Lego City Undercover for new system.
Lego: Lord of the Rings shipped last month for nearly every platform under the sun. It is available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation Vita, PC, DS, and 3DS. However, the children's-themed Lord of the Rings game is not available for the Wii U.
Fans of both J.R.R. Tolkien's fiction and Nintendo's new dual-screen gaming system may be wondering why the game skipped the Mario maker's first high-definition console. The answer, according to a Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment representative, is simple.
"The primary reason is that [Traveller's Tales] and Lego were already working on Lego City Undercover for Wii U," the representative said.
Nintendo director of product marketing Bill Trinen said in September that the company has been working with Lego on Lego City Undercover for "quite a while," noting that it wanted to have a Lego game for the Wii U launch. Though Lego City Undercover is not yet available, it is due out during Nintendo's "launch window" period, which spans November 18, 2012-March 31, 2013.

Isn't the Wii U backwards compatible with Wii games anyway?? So just buy the Wii version and play it on Wii U.
Why Eddie Makuch, keeps writing articles on why a game hasn't been ported over the WII U? Because he is running of stories that we care about?. oh wait these stories just bring up Haters and Defenders to war and more clicks which means more money for Gamespot. What a evil business! Can Nintindtones, SonyDrones, Xbots, and PC people ever live happily together? Not when game journalism exist!!! LOL =P
Come on it wouldn't have been much different if it was on the Wii U anyway.
So Nintendo is going to keep supporting DS, 3DS, Wii, Wii U?
"Why everything skipped Wii U"
yet another game skipping wii U
Shinteikun does it matter this game wouldve been overshadowed by the wii u exclusive lego city undercover. you can also play the wii version (cheaper) albeit not in HD.
People have to understand Developers are only so big. They can't make infinity games on every platform. It takes time and resources.
It just so happens the dev was working on an Exclusive Wii U Lego game.
I have to get this game. I have the Harry Potter ones, but haven't played it yet. The games are fun and can be challenging at times.
Lego city undercover and Lego LOTR could have co-existed on the Wii U even since Lego City Undercover is delayed.
i was the biggest tolkien fan ever as a boy
and i now understand why people love these lego games
This game is so so so so good.. I'm 25 next month and can't actually think of the last time when I bought a game that I enjoyed as much..
Possibly because LotR is amazing anyway, but it's just awesome as a whole :)
Lego City Undercover looks fun as hell
A wiibit late thats why.
Excellent game and being as is it is already avaliable for the Wii theres little reason to make a WiiU version.
Also consider the Wii version is retailing for around £25 and most WiiU titles are £40+ its a no brainer really.
You can still play the Wii version on the Wii U anyway, so no biggie.
nintendoboy16 I'm confused. Are you saying that there is no much difference between those consoles?
lina_baby_doll nintendoboy16 No he's saying that graphics does not matter in games.
lina_baby_doll No... the Wii U has backwards compatibility with Wii games.
lina_baby_doll nintendoboy16 No, he's saying that sexism in gaming is wrong.
FAIL_TR0LL lina_baby_doll nintendoboy16 No he said that We must save pandas.
wexorian FAIL_TR0LL lina_baby_doll nintendoboy16 No he said... What she said
nintendoboy16 so you can play SSB Brawl on the Wii u?? can you connect GC controllers to the Wii u?
GamerOuTLaWz You can play Brawl if you want, but no GameCube controller support. Doesn't matter to me as I play Smash with a Classic Controller (original and Pro) anyway.
