    Since breaking my thumb back at the end of Feb I have completely lost my gaming mojo. I just cannot bring myself to pick up a controller and it's been about 15 weeks. I will play when mates are around for a bit of Rainbow 6 or CoD but other than that nada. Help!!!

    I still buy all the games but then only play rouge-likes that could have ran on a 1982 mainframe. Seems to me you're doing it right.
    You'll be back once something catches your eye.

    You could play Kinect exclusively until your thumb heals.

    You will be on suicide watch for the next 6 months however......

    Oh thank god, thought it was another negative thread about the state of gaming.

    This happens at the tail end of generations. The systems lose their wow factor and gamers lose interest.

    Buy a PC and have fun. Switching to PC from consoles reinvigorated my love for gaming a year or so ago. Massive variety and much cheaper to buy. Just a bit more of an upfront outlay but it's worth it.

    Sometimes if you just fire up a game and start messing with it the mojo comes back.

    I go through this now and again, strangely if I have to many games, and I do not mean on the go, I just mean too many games in the man drawer!

    Enjoy a break, masturbate more and have fun...then come back to us ;) a shameful, sticky mess of a man.

    At home, I have a gaming den, projector, surround sound, all the consoles, retro ones too, scores of games, mini bar, comfortable seats, fuck... there's even a piano and guitar in there. You know what I game on when I go home? My phone. Never used any of it. :/

    This happens to me from time to time. Went about 5 months a couple of years ago without picking up a controller but it all started coming back again. I think it can be healthy to have a break from it all for a bit.

    Yeah, I took a six-month hiatus from games a couple of years ago or so and found I really enjoyed my games more after that. Plus, you can get so many games for next to nothing as the price has plummeted. After playing Max Payne 3 I decided I needed to do it again and I already have a list of games I will pick up dirt cheap in the New Year.

    Play Rayman origins. If if doesnt bring back your mojo then you need a new hobby.

    Already have a PC but that's for programming, haven't played a PC game in years mainly because I spend 8-10 hours a day working on one.

    No point doing a hobby you don't enjoy. Take a break for a while and find another thing to do! Maybe you'll come back to gaming, maybe you won't, fretting about it won't help.

    It's not uncommon for a bit of a lull to occur when playing games. I have the fortunate situation of work and personal projects taking up a lot of time so when I get time to play games I'm all fired up for it, and generally spend as much time as I can spare enthralled in a game.

    Sometimes you don't recover from a "break" and fall into the casual bracket. Maybe when some exciting titles come out you'll get back into it.

    It's fairly easy to see where this thread is going wrong;

    "generations"

    "controllers"

    "call of duty"

    Put down the conveyor belt mass market shovelware and do some proper gaming.

    What graysonavich said! Though you need a controller for PS3, but you should play Journey! Also, Lilly Looking Through (point-click adventure) just got fully funded on KickStarter, so expect that coming in the near future too. :)

    Edit: Indie games ftw. :o

    this. 90% of games this gen are overrated, graphics over gameplay shite. i especially have fallen completely out with any story driven games as they have almost zero replay value.

    i just watch most games on youtube now.
    How many of your 258 posts have said the exact same thing?

    You realise you can rent games now, right?

    @spacewarrior

    Wouldn't 90% but yes a large amount is shit. The last game i found to be extremely boring/bland/soulles is Infamous 1. Sure it's fun to run around the city but everything else....

    I have not entirely lost my Mojo yet, but it is becoming less and less through the course of 2 years. The new Starcraft expansion might just rejuvenate it but it remains to be soon. For now i'm stuck on Football manager.

    Thought it was okay. Played through till the end so I must have enjoyed it to some degree.

    fair enough but it just didn't do it for me as there are far better sandbox games on the PS2 than infamous 1.

    infamous 2 is brilliant though.
