The commenting feature is now live on all music archive pages (not just the new-files)! Looking forward to seeing all the discussions about new and old files alike. If you notice any other bugs, please let us know (the page generation script was rewritten from Perl to Python and it may be missing a few things... like a few ZIP files we have listed in the past). Each game system is now consolidated into an A-Z page since modern computers can list even the largest listings without any problems.

We're testing out the Disqus commenting system on our new-files directory. Click the comment link in the far right column to give us feedback on each song. Your feedback can either let us know if a song is correct/incorrect, good/bad. If this works well, we'll try rolling out commenting to entire existing archive.

Today's song of the day is Underworld from Yoshi's Island DS (Nintendo DS), sequenced by Erin Thweatt. (MIDI file) (TXT file) The song sounds great, but I haven't played this game. Is it the correct song? Does it sound like the original? Also check out VGMusic's new Google+ page.

"Song of the Day" is an initial attempt to start building user feedback on new files to help us review them for inclusion into the archive. Here's an easy one for first for review: Starman (NES: Super Mario Bros.) (MIDI file) (TXT file). Some issues to consider: Does this song match the title and game? Is it good enough to include in the archive, or should improvements be requested? (We can always include a song if its good enough AND give feedback for future improvements). Any other comments appreciated. I'll pick longer songs in the future.

Today (December 19) is the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Video Game Music Archive! Our new-files keep streaming in. Thanks for the continued interest and support! This coming year, we'd like to build in user feedback on songs to help us review new submissions, as well as quality check our existing files (point our songs assigned to incorrect games, etc.). Currently pondering the best way of doing this. Twitter? Google Plus? Google Docs? Facebook? Surveymonkey? One possibility is to have a "song of the day" and have the community give feedback, then the next day the song is approved or notification is sent back to the submitter for correction. Let us know what you think would work best. Another possibility is build a mobile app (Android and/or iOS) and let people rate songs and give feedback interactively. This could even be turned into a game (multiple choice name the song). If anyone has experience if making music apps, please let us know.
