Man Pleads Guilty in Plot Against Military Office

Dec 07, 2012

SEATTLE - A man has pleaded guilty to plotting to attack a Seattle military office with machine guns and grenades.

The U.S. attorney's office says 35-year-old Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif entered his pleas Thursday and agreed to a prison sentence between 17 and 19 years. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to murder U.S. officers and conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction.

Abdul-Latif, also known as Joseph Anthony Davis, was arrested in June 2011 at a Seattle warehouse where prosecutors say he planned to pick up machine guns and grenades for the attack.

Prosecutors say an informant helped the FBI record Abdul-Latif discussing how he wanted to gun down people in the Military Entrance Processing Station as revenge for atrocities by U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan.
