Filmhus & Publikum

Cinemateket præsenterer dansk og international filmkunst i tre biografer. Cinemateket har til opgave at fastholde og udvikle interessen for film i hele dens mangfoldighed. Det sker gennem et bredt, varieret og kvalitetsbaseret filmprogram, der rummer både klassikere og nyere film, der ellers ikke vil kunne ses i danske biografer. Desuden er Cinemateket rammen om en række debatmøder, seminarer og andet, hvor publikum kan møde bl.a. filmfolk.
Cinemateket rummer udover de tre biografer også et videotek, hvor klassikere såvel som kort- og dokumentarfilm fra Filminstituttets distribution kan gennemses på stedet.
Cinemateket huser også FILM-X, som er et computerbaseret medielaboratorium, hvor børn og unge kan skabe deres egne film og gennem praktiske aktiviteter få større forståelse for såvel den filmskabende proces som fortællemæssige strategier og værktøjer. Organisatorisk hører FILM-X under Børn & Unge.
Cinemateket huser desuden restaurant og café SULT og den specialiserede Film- & Boghandel, der også har en e-boghandel.

The Cinematheque (Danish only) features three theatres screening Danish and international films. The aim of the Cinematheque is to maintain and develop interest in film in its full variety. This takes place via broad and varied quality film programming, embracing classics as well as recent films that would not otherwise be shown in Danish cinemas. Furthermore, the Cinematheque is host to a number of debates, seminars and other activities bringing together the film-going public and professional filmmakers.
In addition to its three theatres, the Cinematheque is home to the Videotheque (Danish only) for on-site viewing of classic films as well as short and documentary films distributed by the Danish Film Institute.
The Cinematheque also houses FILM-X, a computer based media laboratory enabling children and young adults to make their own films, and through hands-on activities improve their understanding of the filmmaking process and the narrative strategies and tools of the film medium. Film-X is organized under Children & Youth Film (Danish only).
The Cinematheque also features a restaurant and café, SULT (Danish only), and a specialized Book & Video Store, including an online bookstore.
