Deus Ex gets its own clothing line
Square Enix teams with Musterbrand to create a licensed collection pulled from Eidos Montreal's new cyberpunk stealth shooter hybrid Human Revolution.
If there's one defining characteristic to Adam Jensen, the protagonist of Square Enix's Deus Ex: Human Revolution, it's that the guy knows how to rock a trench coat. Gamers can test their own "trench quotient" starting tomorrow, as Square Enix and Musterbrand have unveiled a new clothing line based on the game's fashions.
The highlight of the line is a trench coat based on that worn by the game's protagonist, Adam Jensen, but the offerings extend beyond outerwear. Once the collection goes live, gamers will be able to order a variety of short- and long-sleeve shirts inspired by Human Revolution, and even a pair of Deus Ex jeans.
Some of the clothes and accessories--like the trench coat--will be based on those worn by characters in the game. Others will be merely inspired by the game, but without a specific counterpart therein. The Deus Ex: Human Revolution clothing line will be available for customers in North America and Europe from its own online store.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution debuts on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this week. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's review.
I second this notion
$190 coat seems to be a bit on the pricey side. and one of the shirts has "Made in Pakistan" written on it. Really? Pakistan? Bet all the other items were made in Pakistan too. This is a deal breaker for anything costing near $200.
Love Deus Ex, awesome story, awesome enviroment, awesome characters, and awesome game in general. But $200 for a coat that doesn't even really look like Adam's coat? No thank you.
lmao wonder how tall you have to be so the coat don't drag
Goofy.
Disapointing, the coat doesnt have the floral detailing. Its just an expensive coat without it.
Not bad at all...seems to be an awesome coat...too bad its a little pricy...
I never asked for this....
wow the coat was out of stock in like 2 minutes...sigh...and still the coat doesnt have the lining in the back that has in the game
Two-breasted coats are so impractical, uncomfortable and so utterly not-DeusEx. I know it from personal experience, which is why I got myself a couple single-breasted trenchcoats and there is a huge difference in the coolness factor. And no, if you are a proud owner fobbed off with this fashion mistake, you can't make a simple conversion, you'll have to live with your new cheap wannabe look. You may have noticed that O'Malley is wearing a ladies' jacket, aside from our Viking protagonist's open coat's awkward button placement, which would suggest, if only mildly, that ES are not big on tailoring. Which apparently doesn't stop them from making the extra buck on impressionable young noobz...
Cool
"Augmentations not included" Oh gamespot you silly sausage :p
Might as well have "I love Deus Ex a little too much" written across the lapels.
trench coat is sold out, nothing to see here folks
It's amazing you can own Jensen's coat. It's not amazing that it costs over £160, and is out of stock. :(
I like this, i think more game should do something like this.
gone to the store and they are already out of stock
I vouch for this.
One wouldn't normally think this but this is one game which deserves a costume design special achievement award. I guess it still might get the year-end character-design awards or some others on thise lines. The whole "triangle" theme throughout the design in the game was truly beautiful. I wish there would be a wider range of clothing and accessories that could be based off the game. Not something one would wear everyday - but it would be so fantastic if the designs from a game kicked off a fashion trend. :) Glad Square Enix saw and was willing to exploit SOME of the potential. Good luck Sqeenix!!
There are about to be a lot of cosplayers.
@Frame_Dragger What planet are you from? The only thing better then chicks wearing the bikinis from DOA is not wearing anything at all. lolol
well, they could have included at least casio (the social enhancer) if they really want to bring the style to the people :P
That's pretty funny...
Too expensive and looks ridiculous. As much as I love the idea of looking like Adam, I don't want to look like some creepy pervert.
Sunglasses people. Think cyberpunk think sharply edged dark ubercool shades.......
What a shame.
Darn it, i was going to say something about school shootings but someone already beat me to it,
Oh HELL NO, that trench coat is so not Jensen-level pimpin'... Nothing about that damn coat screams DXHR...if anything, it yells 'basic cheap!!'....or scuzzy pervert. Take your pick.
I didn't ask for this.
I guess the pants are okay if you're into that style, and a couple of the shirts are okay (not the dots one or the triangle), but that trenchcoat...uhm...yeah... I guess if you wear it to a convention then your'e cool, but God help you if you wear it in public. It looks like you fancy peep shows and offering little kids candy. I'm sure there is much better gamer apparel out there than this.
@Genocide6sic6 Already ordered that size specially for you since it sounds like your a bit worried about the limited stock there....
Better get preordering all you fat kids, the XXL is going to sell out quick. No, they wont make you look skinny.
Fast forward a day after these clothes hit the market... 30-year old "kids" scattered far and wide, playing Deus Ex in their mom's basements, fully decked out in this gear. Perhaps not the effect Musterbrand was shooting for.
The pants are the only thing I'd buy from all those, actually yes I am gonna buy a pair.
Amazing!
$189 for a trench coat??? Yeah it looks awesome but who would pay that much for one?
24 dollars for a shirt with dots ? lol. The clothes look kinda cool but I don't see that many people ordering from that place.
I feel this has Hot Topic written all over it.
All the arguments about the trench coats aside, that long-sleeved shirt looks awesome. I should probably play the game first though... :P
@Frame_Dragger: Now go and tell women that only the beautiful ones are allowed to wear dresses and show their hair.
great for....shooting up schools? Jeez, what kinda loser would wear something from a video game?
Nice, if a wee bit pricy.
the trenchcoat is cool but the price... =\
ugh, it's the matrix all over again.... fat dudes wearing long coats, shades and tight jeans pretending to be neo.....
Do Want... ugh, but it's probably going to be expensive, just like the Assassin's Creed clothing... well, expensive for me, at least. Why do they have to look so awesome?
I guess Square Enix heard people saying that it felt too "Hot Topic" for them and decided that the phrase shouldn't just be a metaphor anymore.
this is an awesome idea. i wish more franchises containing unique fashion aesthetics would do similar things. if someone's already imagined/designed an awesome trenchcoat, i want the option to buy and wear it! not just admire it on screen. for me, i will /probably/ buy the game... /definitely/ buy at least something from that clothing line :D shame it's online only... the cut of that trenchcoat really looks like it needs to be tried on. especially for that price.
I want Jensen's sun glasses xD
Oh man I want that trenchcoat so bad.
that trench coat would look awesome:D i want one. but i hope this is true:)
