10 hours ago | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

A Missouri man has been charged with allegedly planning a mass shooting spree at a screening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2, The Springfield News-Leader reported.

Blaec Lammers, 20, allegedly purchased assault rifles and ammunition and planned an attack on a weekend Twilight screening. He faces charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and making a terroristic threat.

Lammers’ plot echoes James Holmes’ alleged shooting at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado.

This is a developing story. »

'Breaking Dawn' Earns $30.4M from Midnight/10 p.m. Thursday

14 hours ago | Box Office Mojo | See recent BoxOfficeMojo.com news »

As expected, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 got off to a very impressive start last night. The fifth and final installment in the perennial franchise grossed an estimated $30.4 million from midnight and 10 p.m. Thursday showtimes, which is slightly higher than the midnight-only grosses for Breaking Dawn Part 1 ($30.25 million) and Eclipse ($30.1 million). It's also noticeably better than New Moon's $26.3 million.Unfortunately, Lionsgate/Summit have declined to break out the grosses from the 10 p.m. Thursday shows, which should not be counted towards the opening weekend figure (the weekend is Friday to Sunday, not Thursday night to Sunday). Clearly, though, opening at 10 p.m. on Thursday makes it easier for younger audience members to get to theaters, so the $30.4 million figure is probably going to make up a larger portion of opening day than past midnight-only hauls. If Breaking Dawn Part 2 does manage to follow Part 1's pattern from here, »

One of children TV's most iconic voices has fallen silent. Lucille Bliss, the actress who played Smurfette in the classic 1980s cartoon The Smurfs, has died. She was 96. Bliss died Nov. 8 of natural causes at an assisted living center in Costa Mesa, Calif., the Orange County coroner told the Los Angeles Times. ABC Cancels Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue

9 hours ago | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

ABC has done what the U.S. Armed Forces could not: It sunk the Colorado.

The network cancelled Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue Friday, our sister site Deadline reports.

Both freshman dramas had struggled to maintain an audience. Thursday’s Last Resort, which reportedly was an important factor in whether or not the series would receive a full-season pick-up, saw a slight ratings drop to 5.8 million total viewers and a 1.3 demo rating.

Similarly, last Sunday’s 666 Park earned only 4 mil/1.3, matching the previous episode’s series low.

Hank Azaria, who provides the voices for a host of characters on "The Simpsons," including Moe Szyslak and Chief Wiggum, is suing over the rights to one of his characters. ABC cancels '666,' 'Last Resort'

9 hours ago | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

It’s a sad day for fans of two ambitious ABC dramas that came up short in the ratings this fall: Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue will soon end their runs.

ABC will continue airing the original 13-episode orders for both shows, but neither will receive a full-season pickup.

For 666, the writing has been on the wall for weeks. The Sunday-night supernatural drama starring Terry O’Quinn has been shedding its Revenge lead-in and been on a downward spiral since its debut.

For Last Resort, the news is somewhat surprising. Though its ratings matched the performance of 666, Shawn Ryan’s »

Interview: Artis Silvester talks 'Survivor: Philippines'

"You're asking people to give you a million dollars and as human beings, nobody in their right mind wants to give an a***hole a million dollars, unless he's up there with other a**holes," says Artis Silvester, summarizing one of the basic truths of "Survivor."   Those are wise and fitting words for the 53-year-old, who became the most recent player voted out on "Survivor: Philippines."   Artis didn't get an especially complimentary edit on "Survivor," receiving very little screentime and spending much of that time mocking, maligning or fighting with returning player Mike Skupin.   However, Artis came away as practically »

Canceled shows: Does your outrage matter?

1 hour ago | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

In the last 24 hours, two broadcast nets yanked three new series off the air –ABC’s 666 Park Avenue and Last Resort, and CBS’ Partners. Though low ratings typically justify the premature deaths, that’s little consolation to viewers who connected early to the programs (or in this case, at least one of them).

“Really sad about Last Resort!” wrote a reader named Jess on the EW message board. “I love that show and I think it’s one of the better ones on TV these days.” This from someone named T Money: “I can’t believe they cancelled Last Resort. »

'Fringe' Recap - 'Five-Twenty-Ten'

3 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

One thing I’ve never gotten about the spoiler culture surrounding television is why it’s so important to know what’s going to happen before episodes air. “Spoiler culture” is a vague term, one that incorporates different things for different people. Short of simply unplugging from all forms of media, it’s extremely difficult to stay truly unaware. For instance, “Fringe” and Fox hyped up the return of Nina Sharpe tonight, removing any and all surprise that would have ensued for people just turning on tonight’s episode “Five-Twenty-Ten” without any knowledge of such casting news. The “why” was kept under wraps, and there’s the »

Netflix's Reed Hastings Responds to Carl Icahn Acquisition Rumors

Reed Hastings is expecting a proxy battle with Carl Icahn, the Netflix CEO told The Wall Street Journal. Hastings, who has been largely silent about Icahn since it was learned the activist investor took nearly a 10 percent stake in Netflix, also dismissed the idea of allowing Netflix to be acquired by a larger company. Icahn, though, has suggested such a strategy would be best for shareholders. “We think we can make it in the long term absolutely on our own. We’ve been doing that for 10 years,” Hastings told the Journal on Friday. But Icahn told The Hollywood
