About us

MORE GAME PLAYING POWER TO YOUR POCKET!
If Pocket Gamer isn't the world's number one site for mobile and handheld games when you read this, well, it soon will be.

Why? Because since we launched in March 2006, we've been doing everything we can to create a place on the internet devoted to what we call Pocket Gaming.

At Pocket Gamer, we're about:
Games you can put in your pocket
Games you can play wherever and whenever you like
Games you can dip into for five minutes (but spend an hour with)
Fun and frantic action
Competing against our friends
No manuals or game degrees needed to make the games work!

We love how our phones are always there for us with a quick football match on the bus or a Grand Prix in a doctor's surgery. We love how the PSP can handle anything we throw at it and still deliver God of War at 35,000 feet above the Atlantic, or half a mile below ground in the Channel Tunnel. And we love how the DS has us tapping away with our stylus like demented woodpeckers.

We love our Xbox 360s, Wiis, and PS3s, too. Because we love video games. And we believe nothing will make games more popular than Pocket Gaming - especially now all the new machines let you play against your friends.

Who knows, we may just be talking about a games revolution. Are you going to play along with us?

POCKET GAMER'S PROMISE TO YOU

We will...
  • Bring you honest reviews written by expert gamers
  • Cover as many games and handheld formats as humanly possible

  • Receive free updates on the games you're interested in
  • Find a place for your own views, reviews and votes
  • Enjoy special offers (including free stuff!)
  • Also have a great time!
WHO IS POCKET GAMER?
Kristan Reed | Editor-in-chief
There's no such thing as 'not enough time' in Kristan's world. Despite the former Eurogamer editor claiming the world record for the most number of game reviews written before going insane, he manages to continue to squeeze in parallel obsessions with obscure guitar bands, Norwich City FC, and moody episodic TV shows. He might even read a book if held at gunpoint.

Mark Brown | Deputy editor
Forget schools and textbooks: anything Mark knows, he's learnt from games. His eclectic knowledge of rock music comes from Guitar Hero and his in-depth repertoire of skating tricks is thanks to Tony Hawk. Just don't ask him to fix your plumbing.

Rich Brown | Production editor
Contributing to Pocket Gamer, PocketGamer.biz, Quality Index, and AppSpy, Rich is Pocket Gamer's man for all seasons. With a degree in German up his sleeve, Richard squares up to the following three questions every morning: FIFA or Pro Evo? XBox 360 or PS3? McNulty or Bunk?

Rob Hearn Rob Hearn | Reviews editor
Former site editor Rob is now living a double life, managing Pocket Gamer's formidable review output while raising a human infant. That's just the kind of right-on guy he is.

Peter Willington | Handheld editor
Die hard Suda 51 fan and professed Cherry Coke addict Peter Willington was initially set for a career in showbiz, training for half a decade to walk the boards. Realising that there's no money in acting, he decided instead to make his fortune in writing about video games. Peter never learns from his mistakes.

Jonathan Morris | Hardware editor
From starting out as a games tester for Mastertronic, Virgin and Sega in the late 1980s, Jonathan always had a hunch that mobiles would become quite popular, but possibly didn't realise how powerful. Jonathan's job is to continue advising on the best hardware to buy, in order to enjoy games that have advanced considerably since those long days and nights testing Double Dragon on the C64.

Anthony Usher | Writer
Having flirted with a career in Forensic Science, Anthony left university to pursue other interests. These mostly consisted of video games which he has been fond of ever since popping Super Mario World into his SNES. Numerous gaming platforms and endless hours of button bashing have passed following that moment, with iOS taking the crown as his current favorite

Harry Slater | Writer
Harry used to be really good at Snake on the Nokia 5110. Apparently, though, digital snake wrangling isn't a proper job, so now he writes words about games instead.

Jon Mundy | Writer
Jon is a consummate expert in adventure, action and sports games. Which is just as well, as in real life he's timid, lazy and unfit. It's amazing how these things even themselves out.

James Gilmour | Writer
Enchanted from a young age by colour, motion, and sound, James divides his time between obsessing over all things digital and lamenting the death of VHS. He looks forward to a future where machines rule the earth and all political disputes are solved via one round of rock-paper-scissors.

Matthew Diener | US correspondent
Representing the former colonies, Matt keeps the Pocket Gamer news feed updated when sleepy Europeans are sleeping. As a frustrated journalist, diehard gamer, and recovering MMO addict, this is pretty much his dream job.

Jon Jordan | PocketGamer.biz editor-at-large
A Pocket Gamer co-founder, Jon can turn his hand to anything except hand turning. He edits the PG.biz as well as turning up on Pocket Gamer like a slightly confused uncle looking for the way out. He likes numbers, letters and lettuce.

Keith Andrew | PocketGamer.biz editor
With a fine eye for detail, Keith Andrew is fuelled by strong coffee, Kylie Minogue, and the shapely curve of a san serif font. He's also Pocket Gamer's resident football gaming expert and, thanks to his work on PG.biz, monitors the market share of all mobile OSs on a daily basis.

Voted most likely member of the Pocket Gamer team to be seen in a suit, David handles advertising. To his dismay, he has never been confused with Don Draper.
