Government last night released a revised list of Ministers of State following the resignation of the Group of 8 NPP Minister-aspirants and Paa Kwesi Nduom, who has declared his intention of seeking the CPP flagbearership.
Interestingly, however, the important Ministry of Roads was conspicuously missing from the list of 47 released last night.
Of the 25 full time Ministers before this change, only nine kept their original portfolios. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Francis Poku, Courage Quarshigah, Joe Ghartey, Ernest Debrah, Joseph Adda, Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, Gladys Asmah and Hajia Alima Mahama retained their Finance, National Security, Health, Attorney-General, Agriculture, Energy, Ports, Harbours & Railways, Fisheries and Women & Children seats.
Albert Kan Dapaah now heads the Defence Ministry following the exit of Kwame Addo-Kufuor, while Kwamena Bartels shifts from Information to the Interior.
Hackman Owusu-Agyemang's Water Resources, Works and Housing seat is now occupied by Abubakar Saddique Boniface, who has passed his Manpower, Youth and Employment seat to returnee Nana Akomea. Stephen "Asa B” Asamoah Boateng moves to Tourism and Diaspora Relations, to be replaced at the Local Government Ministry by another returnee, Kwadwo Adjei-Darko.
Joe Baidoo-Ansah takes over Alan Kyerematen's Trade portfolio, while Kwasi Osei-Adjei will now handle Ghana's foreign relations after passing through Parliamentary vetting. He had previously served as Deputy to Nana Akufo-Addo at the same Ministry.
The list also includes 12 Ministers of State at various ministries, with 5 new faces, including Nana Obiri Boahen, who is at the Interior Ministry. Former Eastern Region Minister Yaw Barimah is now a Minister of State at the Presidency.
With the exception of George Hikah Benson (Upper West), Alhassan Samari (Upper East), and Kwadwo Afram Asiedu (Eastern Region), all other Regional Ministers were maintained. Below is the list of ministers released last night.
