Why is She famous

After watching Mila Kunis strut around for eight seasons as Ashton Kutcher’s ditzy arm candy on That '70s Show, a post-television film career looked unlikely for the seemingly one-note actress. But thanks to the visionary casting of the King Midas of comedy himself, Judd Apatow, who cast Kunis in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the former queen of straight-to-DVD and voice of Family Guy’s perennial punching bag Meg Griffin is staring genuine movie stardom straight in the face. With follow-up roles in Max Payne, The Book of Eli and Darren Aronofsky’s Oscar-nominated ballet thriller, Black Swan, Mila Kunis is on the verge of making Kelso rue the day he ever left her.

Actually, as of late, she may just have solidified her position in the industry (or at least in the eyes of men world over) when Esquire named Mila Kunis the Sexiest Woman Alive. No objections here.

Mila Kunis Quote

" I've been engaged. I think I've already been married. And I'm sure I have a child somewhere. I'm waiting to have something else happen. No, I'm not married. And no, I'm not engaged. And no, I do not have a child. No one seems to listen. And next week I'll be engaged again. I think at one point they were like, 'Seen shopping in Beverly Hills for engagement rings.' We were in Japan working. What is wrong with these people? Half the time you can say they misconstrued facts. But more often than not, they just make stuff up."

86 Sex Appeal

After watching Mila Kunis whine her way through eight seasons on That '70s Show and voice the awkward and annoying Meg Griffin on Family Guy, it might be tough to envision Kunis as a sex symbol. Well, tell that to Maxim magazine, who ranked the Ukrainian-born stunner No. 5 on its 2009 Hot 100 list and No. 22 the year after. Her sudden status as a sex symbol shouldn’t come as a surprise, especially after her breakthrough performance in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, in which she used her smoky beauty and girl-next-door appeal to craft the most crush-worthy performance since Cameron Diaz’s turn in There’s Something About Mary. Unfortunately all we could do was crush while Macaulay Culkin, her boyfriend of nearly a decade, got to touch her skin, smell her hair, pluck her eyebrows, apply her deodorant and do all that other stuff that normal, healthy couples do together -- at least until 2011, when Kunis announced they had split up. And of course, her hotness quotient was upped exponentially in that infamous sex scene with Natalie Portman in Black Swan. Finally, you know your sex appeal has been validated when Esquire names you the Sexiest Woman Alive, which is what happened in October 2012.

70 Success

There was a time when Mila Kunis’ career prospects looked bleak. Real bleak. With American Psycho 2 and Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding collecting dust in the straight-to-DVD bin, and her role as the petulant Jackie Burkhart on That '70s Show now a thing of the past, we couldn’t help but wonder what would become of the former teen queen who once seemed destined for movie stardom. Oh sure, she was in the midst of a successful run as the voice of Meg Griffin in Family Guy, but an actress with Kunis’ beauty deserved to be seen, not just heard.

Thankfully Judd Apatow agreed and cast Kunis in the Nick Stoller-helmed, Jason Segel-starring hit Forgetting Sarah Marshall. As the girl of every man’s dreams, Kunis stole the show and has had her pick of projects ever since. After flexing her action chops in big-budget blowouts Max Payne and The Book Of Eli, Kunis showed us what she’s really made of in Darren Aronofsky’s ballet thriller Black Swan. Now, with the hottest sex scene of the year with costar Natalie Portman and the multiple awards heaped on both Black Swan and Kunis herself, expect to be seeing a lot more Mila Kunis.

Mila Kunis Biography

They say that becoming a movie star is about having a lot of talent and a little bit of luck. In Mila Kunis’ case, the luck part couldn’t be more true. Born in the Ukrainian SSR, Kunis and her family were able to move to Los Angeles in 1991 thanks to the luck of a lottery. After a five-year process, the Kunis clan fled communism and enrolled their daughter at Rosewood Elementary School before she knew even a word of English. Kunis likened this experience to being “blind and deaf at age 7,” an experience that saw her come home every day in tears. But after her father signed her up to the Beverly Hills studios in an attempt to get her to socialize, Kunis was spotted by a talent agent who promptly signed the talented young actress.

Before she could say the word “royalties,” Kunis was starring in commercials and modeling for the likes of Barbie, Payless Shoes and Guess. By now she had learned English (while attending Hubert Howe Bancroft Middle School) well enough to land speaking roles in vital cultural touchstones like Days of Our Lives, Baywatch and, of course, Walker, Texas Ranger.

mila kunis stars in that '70s show

At just 15 years old (she was hired when she was 14 but lied to casting directors, who were hesitant to hire a minor), Mila Kunis was cast as the insufferable, manipulative but impossibly cute Jackie Burkhart on FOX’s eight-season-long hit That '70s Show. But in a role that was sometimes reduced to nothing more than Ashton Kutcher's arm candy (shudder), Kunis was unable to do much with her performance and was relegated to starring in bargain-bin classics like American Psycho 2 and Get Over It while her show was on hiatus. Her only other success came when Seth McFarlane chose Kunis to replace Lacey Chabert as the voice of Meg Griffin on Family Guy. Though admittedly fun, the role couldn’t have been wholly satisfying for Kunis, who was used to being in front of the camera.

mila kunis breaks out in forgetting sarah marshall

After a string of failed attempts on the big screen, including the forgettable films After Sex, Moving McAllister and Boot Camp, Mila Kunis auditioned for the female lead in Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up. Though the role went to Katherine Heigl, Apatow tapped Kunis for the lead in the breakup comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall opposite Jason Segel and the usual culprits --  Paul Rudd, Russell Brand and Jonah Hill. As the witty, gorgeous hotel clerk who mends Segel’s broken heart, Kunis was a revelation, charming audiences whose opinion of the actress was informed most by her performance on That '70s Show. Whatever career choices she had made in the past, after her performance in Marshall, this much was clear: Mila Kunis was ready to be a movie star.

mila kunis’ transition to leading lady

We don’t picture most star actresses wasting away on the couch playing World of Warcraft, but Mila Kunis -- who’s won major points with the geek set -- professes to be a fan. It’s a persona that stands in direct contrast to the one she’s been cultivating on-screen. As a deadly assassin in the Mark Wahlberg-starring video game adaptation Max Payne, and as Denzel Washington’s butt-kicking sidekick in the apocalyptic The Book of Eli, Kunis is becoming a modern-day femme fatale. Kunis went back to her comedic roots in Mike Judge’s Extract and the Tina Fey-Steve Carell team-up Date Night. These days Kunis has every reason to laugh.

mila kunis in black swan

Without question, Black Swan was the movie of 2010 -- and a lot of that has to do with Mila Kunis. Playing Lily, the carefree foil and, in one scene, sexual partner of Natalie Portman's Nina, Kunis oozed sexuality that titillated audiences everywhere. Nominated for both Golden Globes and SAG Awards for her supporting role in Black Swan and with the movie up for Best Picture at the Oscars -- though it didn't make the cut -- Kunis has become more than a pretty face; she's a bona fide star. The icing on the cake? She's in the top 10 of this year's edition of AskMen's Top 99 Most Desirable Women.

mila kunis in friends with benefits

After Portman and Mila Kunis' intense performances for Black Swan, which required the actresses to train for multiple hours a day and live on a calorie-restricted diet, it's no surprise that they took on lighter material for their next films, both with the subject matter of friends with benefits. Portman starred in No Strings Attached opposite Ashton Kutcher, and Kunis starred in Friends with Benefits, opposite Justin Timberlake.

mila kunis' phone hacked?

It turns out there might actually be something to the rumors of Timberlake and Kunis hooking up on the set of their comedy. A day after Scarlett Johansson's nude photos were leaked online, Kunis is now the latest victim to allege that her cell phone was hacked. To make matters more interesting, the photos from her phone apparently aren't just of the actress in compromising positions; they also include pictures of Justin Timberlake lying shirtless on a bed in one photo and wearing panties on his head in another.

mila kunis named sexiest woman alive

In its November issue, Esquire magazine named Mila Kunis the Sexiest Woman Alive, explaining that she is "the most beautiful, opinionated, talkative and funny movie star that we’ve all known since she was 9.” Kunis is in good company, joining Charlize Theron, Halle Berry and Rihanna, who are all past title holders.
