It's fair to say that none of us are ever going to feel the real thrill of a dogfight in space, cursed as we are to be born in a time where spaceships spend most of their time on the ground and are rarely equipped with lasers.
Luckily, right now the really rather brilliant Galaxy on Fire 2 is available from the App Store for free, meaning we can live out our space fighting dreams without the danger of being sucked out in an endless vacuum.

Kerosene Games and Lumo Arcade have unleashed their Unreal powered third person action adventure Bladeslinger onto the App Store.
The game, which mixes ghoulish fantasy, steampunk, and the old west, sees you slashing your way through a variety of disgusting creatures in a quest for vengeance.
You play as William Glaston, who's sword to save his home town of Hammer's Peak from the fell beasts that have overrun the once peaceful settlement.
Set to be the first part of a larger story, the game features intuitive touch controls and some of the best graphics we've seen on an iOS device to date.

Yingpei Games releases more details about Mer...
Yingpei Games, formerly known as Epic China, has release some more details about their upcoming Unreal powered FPS Mercenary Ops.
The game, which looks to borrow more than a little from Resident Evil 4, offers 8 single player levels and 3 giant boss fights to blast your way through using innovative single finger controls.
As you can see from the screenshots, Mercenary Ops is certainly looking impressive, and promises plenty of unholy beasts for you to blast into pieces.

Blade Lords brings F2P slashing to iOS
Soul Calibur style free to play slasher Blade Lords has gone into beta in Canada and Singapore, which usually means that a worldwide iOS release isn't too far behind.
The game, which is set in feudal Japan, is all about proving you're the greatest swordsman in the world, and taking on all comers with your trusty blade to prove it.
The game uses the Unreal Engine to power its 3D on a 2D plane battles, and features a simple play style that should appeal to newcomers, while offering enough depth for fighting fans to really get their teeth into.

Dragon Slayer coming soon to iOS
Glu Mobile has released a trailer for its upcoming cross between Monster Hunter and Infinity Blade for iOS and Android devices, Dragon Slayer.
The game sees you playing a battle wizard who takes on a series of increasingly enormous flying lizards in daring one on one battles. Cue lots of magic spells and probably quite a lot of getting eaten too.
Scheduled for release this week sometime, the game will be available on iOS and Android devices for the princely sum of nothing at all.

Shadowgun Deadzone explodes onto iOS devices
Madfinger's multiplayer only follow up to their Gears of War style third person shooter has landed on iOS and Android devices, and it's looking mighty fine.
The game, which is free to play, sees you blasting it out against friends and foes in a series of arenas, using guns with names like Big Boy, Mace, and S**tStorm to slay your opponents.
Deadzone is free to play, and you can spend cash on lumps of gold that'll help you get the better weapons quicker. With ten playable characters, two multiplayer modes, and up to twelve players online at once, the game is set to bring console style multiplayer mayhem to smaller screens.

November the 21st is the date for your diary if you're a fan of TellTale's harrowing point and click adventure series, as that's when the final episode, No Time Left will be released world wide.
Where iOS device owners have had to wait patiently for the other installments while their console playin brethren ooh, aah, and scream in the next room, that's not going to happen this time, with the game hitting the App Store the same day as Steam, XBLA, and PSN.

It's hard to think of a stranger team up than Danny Trejo - heavily tattoed reformed killer turned action movie actor - and Steve Wozniak - cuddly co-founder of Apple and occasional dancer with the stars.
But that's exactly what tablet gamers are going to get in the not too distant future. A promotional tie-in for Trejo's next movie Vengenace called Danny Trejo's Vengeance: Woz With A Coz.

Saturday Morning RPG episode 3 arrives
The third episode of the classic eighties cartoon inspired turn based RPG has hit the App Store, and it promises to be the largest update to the entertaining game so far.
Episode 3 appears to focus heavily on robots, which isn't too much of a surprise when you consider its subtitle, To Bot or Not To Bot.
There are extra boss encounters, and a new hoverboard that you can unlock to speed up travel times between locations in the game. Throw in some gameplay tweaks and you're left with a decent package.

Fist of Awesome turns to Kickstarter
Nicoll Hunt, developer of the rather special Hard Lines, has turned to Kickstarter for a final push to get his next game, Fist of Awesome, finished off.
The game sees you taking the role of Tim Burr, a Lumberjack who finds his house burned down and his family vanished. Cue time travel, side-scrolling, and an awful lot of bear punching. There's also a chiptune soundtrack provided by Echolevel.
With a classic beat 'em up feel, a unique look, and plenty of character, Fist of Awesome certainly has the goods to stand out from the crowd in the App Store. And Hunt has a pedigree too, having worked for a number of AAA developers before finding success on his own with Hard Lines.

Episode 4 of The Walking Dead creeps onto iOS...
The penultimate episode of TellTale's point and click adventure based around the award winning comic series has finally shuffled onto iOS devices.
The game follows apocalypse survivor Lee ands a ragtag band of other humans as they make their way through zombie infested territory, heading for Atlantic City.
If you've already bought the full game on the App Store for $14.99, the new episode should be available for download right now. If you're paying as you go for the zombie adventure, it'll set you back $4.99.

Angry Birds Star Wars hits the App Store
Rovio's space faring spin off should be in an App Store near you right now, bringing with it plenty of Star Wars flavoured, physics fuelled fun.
Starring birdified versions of your favourite Star Wars characters, the game follows the basic Angry Birds template, but throws in some new twists as well.
You can cut things with lightsabres, blast them with labers, or crush them with the force. Following the plot of the classic films, the game mixes Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space to great effect.

Smartglass, Microsoft's attempt to bring second screen functionality to the Xbox 360 has finally landed on the App Store, a couple of weeks after it made it to Android devices.
While it may have taken a while. it looks like the iOS version of the app brings with it everything that makes the Android one so interesting.
Not only can you play around with your avatar, you can hook your device up to your console and have it fed information about the compatible game you're playing or the movie you're watching.

Jordan Mechner might be best known for his work on Prince of Persia, but the legendary game creator has a pretty impressive and varied back catalogue as well.
We've already seen an iOS version of his point and click adventure The Last Express, and now we're being treated to an updated edition of his classic beat 'em up Karateka.
