Motorola Atrix 4G update

It's hardly been a secret that Motorola's been testing an update for the Atrix 4G on AT&T -- we've been going over the changelog -- and now it looks like it could officially be pushed out tomorrow, April 29. Need a reminder of what's in the 4.1.8.3 update? Here 'tis:

  • Data Speed Increased speed at which data can travel on the network.
  • Data Connection Improvements to prevent interruptions to data connection.
  • Screen Improvements to prevent screen from freezing.
  • Email Improved ability for users to receive email notifications so you know when you have a new message. Also, improvements were made so that you are now able to use the same email login to access both MOTOBLUR™ and YouTube.
  • Skype Improvements to call audio function so it is easier for the person you called to hear you. Please note this application is not pre-loaded on the phone, but is available for download from the Android Market.
  • Wi-Fi Increased functionality by enabling Yahoo Email to be sent over a Wi-Fi connection.
  • Display Improved International Roaming Warning Message by simplifying user notification so that it only appears on the screen when you move to a new network.
  • Happenings Widget Improved Happenings Widget to ensure that you receive the latest updates across the social networks you are connected to such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.
  • Calling Improvements were made to incoming and outgoing call functionality to ensure a more seamless experience.

So be on the lookout starting tomorrow, and sing out if you get it.

That was quick. Tomorrow it is released to the public.

And the update for the HTC Inspire is...where?

BrianTufo says:

Exactly! You would think since the Inspire seems to be more popular/sells more/less returns that AT&T would be upgrading HSUPA on it first or at least the same time. Oh well thanks to rooting mine has HSUPA anyways haha.

Don't be so sure it won't appear :)

Sticking with gingerblur. Love it!

And I will continue to wait patiently for bell to figure it out.

I seem to remember them promising an update for the Atrix and Inspire 4g in april, so when's my inspire getting this hsupa upgrade?
They even went as far as to say the infuse would ship with hsupa available. Maybe that's why it's not out yet lol.

BrianTufo says:

Just root and edit the build.prop and you have yourself HSUPA! :) Screw waiting for AT&T!!!

I hope there's an update for the Bell Atrix too. The Skype issue is awful.

I had 2 Atrix phones. Both were defective. A lot of users are getting phones with a dead spot on the touch screen near the top. Okay so it's getting a software update but when will Motorola address the large number of physically defective phones people are getting? I would have loved the phone if the defects didn't make using it impossible.

And where is the Bell love? This is ludacris! I demand Bell to stop being shitty. No wonder I've been with Rogers all these years. At least they provide proper data speeds and don't try to push their 3G network as 4G. Crooks. The only reason I'm with them is because they made me sign up to get my Atrix.

It is already "tomorrow"! Where is the update that was being discussed yesterday??

Update just hit my phone and it's installing right now..... South Texas region.
