[Sister site FingerGaming rounds up the week's most popular paid and free iPad gaming applications on the App Store as of today, with Infinity Blade, Angry Birds Seasons HD and Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift currently ranking among the platform's top downloads.]

This week's top paid iPad game titles are:

1. Infinity Blade ($5.99)
2. Angry Birds Seasons HD ($1.99)
3. Angry Birds HD ($4.99)
4. Monopoly for iPad ($9.99)
5. Cut the Rope HD ($1.99)
6. Fruit Ninja HD ($4.99)
7. Osmos for iPad ($4.99)
8. Scrabble for iPad ($4.99)
9. Jenga HD ($4.99)
10. Pictureka! for iPad ($2.99)

Epic Games' well-received adventure title Infinity Blade tops iPad game sales in its debut week, pushing former chart leaders Angry Birds Seasons HD and Angry Birds HD to second and third place.

An upgraded iPad version of EA's Monopoly lands at fourth place in its premiere week, leading to a boost in popularity for fellow board game adaptation Scrabble for iPad. NaturalMotion's Jenga HD also sees impressive sales in its first week of release, while Osmos for iPad returns to the chart to compete with Cut the Rope HD and Fruit Ninja HD at seventh place.

Here are this week's top free iPad game applications are:

1. Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift
2. Stick Golf HD
3. Paper Toss HD Free
4. Shoot to Kill HD
5. Solitaire
6. Samurai II: Dojo
7. Toyshop Adventures for iPad
8. Twisted Lands: Shadow Town HD Lite

A free holiday-themed version of Chillingo's Cut the Rope heads the iPad's free game charts in its first day of release, overtaking Noodlecake's Stick Golf HD for top honors.

Backflip's Paper Toss HD Free remains a popular download at third place, as Tower Studios' shooter Shoot to Kill HD climbs up to fourth place after recently being promoted as a free download.

I see a lot of comments about developers being worried about the race to the bottom for these games, but I don't see any 99 cent games on that list. In fact the lowest ones are Cut the Rope and Angry Birds Seasons, which is riding on the popularity of the 4.99 original.

Perhaps we don't have to worry much about the market being ruined by crappy 99 cent apps.

agreed. I think consumers of ipod and ipad games are becoming more inclined to spend larger prices for games, now that they have become accustomed to being able to tell the wheat from the chaff, there's less anxiety for them in purchasing.
