Following very favorable financial results for Japanese social games giant DeNA, the company today announced that it plans to acquire 20 percent of total shares in Cygames, the studio best known for top-grossing mobile game Rage of Bahamut.

The new agreement will see DeNA form a business alliance with Cygames, with the total of 500 shares changing hands between DeNA and Cygames' current majority owner CyberAgent for ¥7.4 billion ($92.2 million) on December 28, 2012.

Cygames and DeNA have been working closely together since the beginning of this year, with the aforementioned digital card collection game Rage of Bahamut launching via DeNA's Mobage social platform, and quickly rising to the number one spot in the top-grossing charts on Google Play and the iOS App Store in the U.S.
