Modern Warfare 4 to "follow straight on" from Modern Warfare 3

"It's happening!" says Captain Price, "No it isn't!" says Infinity Ward

A task, reader: see if you can think of anything that's less surprising than the revelation that Infinity Ward could be making another Modern Warfare game.

News of this went live over the weekend, when Captain Price voice actor Bill Murray (no, not that Bill Murray) discussed his to-do list with This is Xbox. "Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4, I'm doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games..."

Infinity Ward promptly denied the story in a Tweet. Or rather, denied aspects of it. "Interesting news today, but it's not true. We've not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation."

Ooh, I've just thought of something that's less surprising than Infinity Ward making another Modern Warfare game! It's a developer trying to stuff a bolted horse back through a broken stable door.

Ah well. At least this gives us the opportunity to revive August's highly dubious Modern Warfare 4 rumour, which makes mention of drones, Dominators and levels that take place under a layer of ice. What do you want to see in Modern Warfare 4? Guitar Hero developer Neversoft may be among those working on it.

  1. if this turns out to be fact then i feel sorry for the people who are going to buy it

infinity ward lack imagination and all of the games since Modern warfare 1 have just been copies of the same game its a load of rubbish

Why? I would assume they buy it because they want it. I very much doubt anyone is thinking 'oh god, now I'll be forced to buy it and I really hate it"

It will be the same as Modern Warfare 3 Online :D. To be honest, Black Ops 2 is the first COD game that I have not been interested in ever. I might rent it for the story but not online. For years I have turned my nose up at people who say ''its the same as the last game'' but I now see why they say it. Think its time we went back to World War 2 or even 1 because the modern age of warfare is a little crowded.

  4. So here's a story: Infinity Ward decide on a change in direction in their video game franchise; Call of Duty. This game is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (A personal favourite of mine I may add). In it, are mainly original characters (Price having a few minor roles in older games, although it could be argued it is really, a different character). These characters are interesting and somewhat loveable and a large number of the game's audience becomes somewhat attached to them. The thing is depite their success in making good characters FROM SCRATCH, they decide to use some of these characters in EVERY SINGLE SEQUEL, even if it defies story-telling logic to bring them back.

Why do Infinity Ward have to bring back the same characters and actors!!? They succeeded in making us fall for characters like Price in CoD4, so why can't they make up some new characters and allow us to take a journey with them instead.
MW3 didn't end on a cliffhanger so if you ask me, there is no need to bring Captain Price back again. I wish the CoD games would just take a little gamble by not recycling the previous game exactly and atleast if they are not going to revolutionise the gameplay, revolutionise the story.

  5. Because they like the character and want him back.

Wow, that really wasn't all that hard to understand.

Yes, but what's the harm in creating NEW characters? We liked Captain Price after the first Modern Warfare so whoes to say that if they create new characters in MW4 that we won't like them? I just find it annoying when they bring them back when it defies the story's logic. For instance in MW2. How did a man who arguabaly saved the world from Nucleur War end up in a Russian prison? It's riduculous. They finished MW3 with a proper ending and should leave it that way. New game=New characters

  7. Who said there was any harm in new characters? They just like the character and want to keep using him. It's really not hard to understand. A new game does not need to = new characters. It's their game, their series and they feel there is more life to the character of Price. Good for them.

Also, don't you think you're jumping the gun a bit? You have no way of knowing exactly what role Price will take in this next game, he could be the only carry over from the previous ones and have a complete new position.

  8. If Neversoft are involved can we have a section where we need to buy a stupid overpriced peripheral? I love those bits

  9. I say for the next call of duty they seriously need to start working on a new engine. These graphics are looking stale and am getting really board of thhe same stuff.

  10. No it's not that Bill Murray... It's Billy Murray. Sorry to be the pedant. Although I note from the source it's not your mistake to begin with...

Yes, the injury lawyer 4 u. If you've been beaten up then he'll represent you to get you the compensation you deserve. Unless you're his wife.

  12. How did a man who arguabaly saved the world from Nucleur War end up in a Russian prison?

:? I would say he was captured at the end of MW1 after we kill Zakhaev (Hope thats the right spelling), but I thought we were saved from the Russian forces by Nikolai and we see a good guy give Price CPR?? If i am wrong please excuse my ignorance, haven't played MW1 in years and CBA to Wikipedia it. :D
