  1. American Horror Story embodies the realities of modern life (depression, birth issues, infidelity) and mixes them into a deep horror mythos that makes the flawed characters the focus rather than unnecessary special effects, too much blood or insane violence that has recently become what makes up the so-called horror genre. In focusing on the characters and their everyday lives within the construct of the “Horror House,” AHS allows us to relate to the story in a very real way. We live through the depressed teen, the terribly troubled unfaithful spouse, the hurt and seemingly fragile mom, so that when something supernatural occurs we are really struck not only by the “horror” but the emotional impact. Any why would anyone stay in such a chaotic environment where so many horrific things occur? Because all of their money is wrapped up in the house! This takes the normal “why stay” mentality we experience in lesser thought out horror shows or movies and turns it into something we not only can relate to, but that makes us feel even more deeply for the troubled souls who live there…alive or otherwise. Dylan McDermott somehow carries the tortured role to a wonderful apex, especially with his eyes. Jessica Lange gives a great performance time and time again, from the troubled mother, the nasty spiteful neighbor, the commanding lover…she has such a range! I personally love that the series doesn’t feel the need to interject copious amounts of blood or language, so that we can focus on the fun of the fright. From ghosts, urban legends, Halloween tales, mutants and more, this show has a little bit of every corner of the horror genre. of blood or language, so that we can focus on the fun of the fright. 2. Interesting episode, Did not agree with the casting of Jerry O'Connel, he is obviously just there for the female visual stimulation. The show seemed a lot like Arrested Development in relation to the father/son dialogue, perhaps it was just the addition of Portia that sealed my opinion. Overall it was funny, Eddie Izzard was brilliant as usual but did not do enough to help the below average plot. With more episodes i think this show may find its feet, much like The Wire. 3. I did not expect this show to be good when I read other comments and reviews about it-many mention that it is irritating and similar to shows from the '80s. I did see some parts where Louis seems irritable, and Joe seems very indecisive. However, considering the fact that only 4 episodes were aired up to this point, i think it is doing a good in portraying 4 different characters and their relationships. I especially like that they has distinguished characteristics, and they stick to it. The episode is a little fast pace, but I think that gives more dynamic to the show. I mean, it's a 22 minute comedy that just started airing. I think I am going to give it a shot. It would be very sad if this show gets cancelled. I recommend this show to those who want to watch a short lovely and funny show without worrying if something bad is going to happen. Full Review »

"Alias" is one of my favorite shows. Spy shows are usually a dime a dozen, but the difference with "Alias" is that 1) each episode ends with a cliff-hanger, 2) is features consistently sharp writing, and 3) the characters are always relatable. Sure, there might be a bit too much action once in a while, but the show in always thrilling and dependable. The cast gives great performances and Jennifer Garner as the beautiful protagonist is perfect. Full Review »

I don't know if there's ever been an episode of "30 Rock" where I haven't laughed really hard. Whether or not it's a line from the ever sardonic Liz Lemon, moronic Tracy Jordan, star-obsessed Jenna Maroney, the witty Jack Donagheuy or ever-enthusiastic Kenneth Parcell, the show is consistently funny and stands apart from all sitcoms. It's ten-times more biting, and Fey is perfect. Full Review »
