Breaking Bad star playing lead role in Need for Speed movie
Emmy award-winning actor Aaron Paul tapped for lead role in DreamWorks' February 2014 film based on Electronic Arts' racing series.
Breaking Bad star and Emmy award winner Aaron Paul will play the lead role in DreamWorks' upcoming film based on Need for Speed, the company has announced.
According to Electronic Arts executive vice president Patrick Soderlund, the cast for the movie needs to be "edgy and cool," making Paul the right choice for the lead role.
"Aaron Paul is a rising star," Soderlund said. "A great choice for the film lead. We're looking forward to announcing the rest of the actors that will bring this racing franchise to the big screen."
Paul won two Emmys for his performance on AMC television series Breaking Bad. Other credits for the actor include Smashed, Mission: Impossible III, and The Last House on the Left.
The Need for Speed film--due February 7, 2014--is being described by EA as "a fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the '70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise." The project will not be based on any single game in the series and will enter production next year.
Directing the film will be Scott Waugh, who is best known for helming Act of Valor, a military movie starring active-duty US Navy SEALs. Possibly more relevant to the Need for Speed project will be Waugh's experience on stunt crews for dozens of films, including Torque, The Italian Job, and Biker Boyz.
Waugh will be filming a screenplay penned by George Gatins, the executive producer of DreamWorks' 2010 comedy She's Out of My League. Gatins developed the Need for Speed film's story with his brother John, who is producing the film and also wrote the scripts for Real Steel and the upcoming Flight.
As for the gaming franchise, it too has a new installment on the way in the form of Criterion Games' Need for Speed Most Wanted, which is set for release on October 30.
I'll see it, because he's in it...He can make any movie good! He's funny as $hit...BITCH!
So far so good. Hope this movie will turn out good and don't become copy of fast and furious.
Probably be more like a game than NFS: The Run
F&F; got Vin Diesel, so they should put Jason Statham in this film. :P
Is he gonna cook meth while driving? lol
lancea34 lol
Hopefully it won't be too bad a film
Breaking Bad is so good that no matter how bad this movie is his career won't take a hit at all. The movie looks like a total douchefest. Speaking of T.V. shows, can anyone please tell me when the Game of Thrones season two comes to DVD? I am assuming it will be before X-Mas but I have been looking and have found out absolutely nothing. One would assume it would be wise to get it out before X-Mas. That would be stupid, bitch!
Yo, thats crazy, bitch!
This shuld be fun..... >_>
im not a fan of breaking bad but alot of people say he's a good actor but i have a feeling that if he chases this movie it will break him cause i have feeling that this movie is not going to be that good look at the history of games to movies
blackjoker86 Even if the movie is bad (and it will probably will be), so what? It would have to be a pretty bad movie to ruin his career.
So basically they are making another fast and furious titled need for speed lol. I mean how the hell do you write a script for a game that has no lines!!?
Damn, saw Aaron Paul and was hoping they were making a BB video game before I read the headline.
yo mr white, what i need is NOS.
No. Ive seen you race, you've got a heavy foot.
Get me 2 of the big ones, bitch.
hartattk hahahahha
Yo! Mr.White! I'm leaving for Speed, Need for Speed ! Bitch!
To bad such a great actor gets a crappy movie to star in.
wait wait wait... is this the high school tough guy that gets the main character involved in the business?
Forgive me but ive only seen a few of the early episodes of that show and while i found it very amazing, i could not stomach the younger high school character, his acting was simply abysmal
If it is indeed the same actor has he improved over the years
ThreeVo
He doesn't get him involved in the business. Walt (Bryan Cranston) approaches him about getting into the business.Aaron Paul's a great actor. Now that he's really settled into the role he does it well. You don't get awarded 2 Best Supporting Actor Emmys for being a terrible actor.
Glad it's moving forward, just hope it goes in a good direction.
I recognize that man from the old KoRn video of 'Thoughtless', cool stuff.
A big fan of him in Breaking Bad, at least good actor, thats a good start right?
Gamer_4_Fun Not really, if the movie is bad - you lose faith in humanity as your favorite actor is forced to put his amazing potential in a bucket of crap.
He's a good actor... if anything I'll go watch it because of him.
Hellhound30x Same. Producing staff is mehhh
I hope he makes a lot of money because this could ruin his career.
Some of the best advice I ever got was "don't play games based on movies, and don't watch movies based on games". Yeah, I know there's exceptions, but generally it's pretty true. You'd think the two mediums having so much in common would make translation easier, but...
GS is late once again.
I read about this yesterday. I hope Aaron Paul doesn't come off as similar to Jesse Pinkman in this NFS Movie, he's so good in Breaking Bad. I remember him in Big Love and MI:3 but I saw Jesse in those roles as a slacker type. He wasn't as versatile, but that was long ago.
he is a pretty good actor. no details about the plot. they might just do something like fast and furious movies. AAA blockbuster action movie. im not stupid and wont judge anything before it comes out. dont matter what kids are saying your own opinion is always the best.
MY EXPECTATIONS ARE THROUGH THE..........floor, actualy. meh.
Sounds like crap. The only great actor in Breaking Bad was Walter himself.
salvucci91 Aaron did good for his role. Let him try to be a little flexible.
salvucci91 What about the guy who played Gus? Giancarlo Esposito was good.
HE IS AMAZING! AND BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE!
This sounds absolutely horrible. Love Breaking Bad and Aaron Paul, but this film is going to be such a crapfest. Fast-paced high octane film? So basically just fast cuts, lots of loud car revving noise, explosions, and some hot bitches. Great if you have ADHD, not great if you have a brain. The great thing about Breaking bad is that it's not fast paced. It's slow and builds tension beautifully.
WCK619 Fast and The Furious with even less story.
WCK619 This could ruin his reputation as an actor. Scripts made for video games usually suck ass. Video games could have amazing stories because they don't last 2 hours more or less.
Aaron Paul is single-handedly responsible for the over excessive use of the word "Bitch" in any comment bar.
'Yo..Mr. White!..."
Aaron Paul Walker...Bitch!
Yeah, Science!
That is one big forehead
Daaaaaamn bi*ch! I will watch this just because of him.
YO BITCH!
Were Cooking with gas now
BITCH
HA! I wonder if they will include the name of the movie in the script. If they do it should be done like the way they say it in top gun. That would be as cheesy as I expect this movie to be!
RACECARS BITCH
YEAH BITCH
I thought F&F; was basically this.
