Wreck-It Ralph game hitting Wii, DS, and 3DS
Activision and Disney Interactive collaborating on arcade-style side-scroller for Nintendo platforms; Wii version to feature co-op with Ralph and Felix.
Disney's upcoming video-game-themed animated feature film Wreck-It Ralph will be spun into a "classic, arcade-style side-scroller," much like the fictional game it is based on, publisher Activision announced today. In partnership with Disney Interactive, the Call of Duty company will release a Wreck-It Ralph game this fall alongside the film for the Wii, DS, and 3DS.
The game is a "story extension" to the feature film, picking up where the movie leaves off. Wreck-It Ralph is being billed as a game that will "inspire a whole new generation of young gamers" and has players fighting off a Cy-Bug invasion. Throughout the game, players will use Ralph's strength to defeat the enemies, while also taking on the role of Fix-It Felix to repair the damage.
The Wii version of Wreck-It Ralph features co-op, where two players can work together and switch between Ralph and Felix to solve the game's puzzles and collect "Hero Medals."
As for the film, Wreck-It Ralph follows the titular Ralph, a villain in a retro arcade game. After decades of coming out on the losing end, Ralph decides he's fed up with being hated for doing his job and quits. He takes off to explore other gameworlds, coming across a variety of gaming icons along the way.
The film was directed by Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama) and stars John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) as Ralph, Sarah Silverman (Jesus is Magic), Jane Lynch (Glee), and Jack McBrayer (30 Rock). It will hit theaters this November in Real 3D.
I already knew that it wouldn't come on PS3 or 360 since the film does have Nintnedo charcters in
This is one movie I actually want to see, too bad it's coming out in fall :(
Oh, I nearly forgot about this new Pixar movie! It looks like a fun parody of the Donkey Kong arcade game, or something similar.
* I mean Disney - looks like Pixar didn't do this one after all. Hilarious to see all those video game villains in a Disney movie xD
The movie looks like it'll be fun but I think people unfamiliar with videogames won't really understand the gags. The games will most likely be just more movie cash-ins too.
98% of games based on movies all ways bad
leothe3rd But what if it's a game based on a movie based on a game?
Wyckid
just play street fighter ii the movie game and you tell me.
leothe3rd You obviously missed the joke.
It's gonna be bad... Extremely bad. Even if the movie is awesome that game is gonna be awfully bad!
Umm sooo Movie about games Being released as Game for gamers as A game, so this Game is for who love Movies about games, in game!!!
A game about a movie about games... that's quite odd
Evtutchenk0 there was a street fighter the movie the game
redluigi11 0.o
redluigi11 I'm so sad that you reminded me of that... :'(
If only this was by the activision that used to care about games outside of call of duty. Why isn't Nintendo making this one them selves?
IM GONNA WRECK IT... the game that is.
Ok so this game is most likely going to suck but the movie looks awesome.
I get a feeling this game will be worse than the fake arcade game it's representing from the movie.
If they would stick with making the actual arcade game fully fleshed out, I would be interested (IE 8-bit characters, simplistic gameplay, etc). The game seems to be along the lines of Rampage (I kinda miss that series).
Here come's another failed movie based game
Dr wily was removed :(
So it's a movie based on games now being turned into a game? Remind me to piss in Kotick's car.
UnwantedSpam Yeah remember Street fighter the movie the game for the PS1. Piss on Capcom chairman car too will ya. They haven done this in a long time, but they deserved it anyways.
i have a M16A2 if u want il riddle them with bullets
Nintendo fans are pumped for some movie-tie shovelware, meanwhile for gamers it's boring old Monday. :|
The Spiderman 2 tie-in game was made by Activision.
paperwarior17 Yeah, but the developers cared about the project back then. The success of Spiderman 2 has yet to be replicated. *crossing fingers that Amazing Spiderman will change that.*
The movie seems good, if it's anything close to Toy Story I'm going to love it.....
A game? wasn't the trailer for the film just shown at E3?????????
Oh, it's made by Activision.....I guess we're okay because nobody's going to play it unless it's COD lol
The film seems nice, but the game forget. Why?
Reason:
1° its made by activision
2°moive and game tie in, its a ridiculous and offensive way to PR a film, and another way to keep milking money from the gamer.
3° games based on movies tends to suck's 90% of time.
Sohereiam "moive and game tie in, its a ridiculous and offensive way to PR a film, and another way to keep milking money from the gamer."
Hahahahaha, this cannot be a real comment. No wonder some people I've met say they are glad they're not gamers, when they see stuff like this online.
"Gamer" is not an ethnicity or a social position.
Movie? Yes
Game? HAHA! no.
A video game within a video game?
FuryX-4 does not compute (head explodes)
the film looks fun.
the game will blow.
I will definitely take my daughter to see this movie. I will also definitely NOT buy this movie tie-in game.
The fact it's a sidescroller reeks of cash-in , it's not that there aren't good sidescrollers out there , but when it's a licensed title like this it just shows how it will be thrown together to get kids to want to get it to play before the movie.Call me cynical , but my expectations aren't very high.
i would be surprised if this is not also coming for iOS/ android etc.
The fact that I saw Bowser and Dr. Eggman (Robotnik) in the trailer caught my interest.
The artistry looks like an updated version of TF2.
gatsbythepig That a bad thing?
I don't think he said it was a bad thing. eddienoteddy
eddienoteddy Just an observation. I guess it depends on how you feel about it.
