Aliens: CM collector's edition packs in Powerloader figurine

$100 premium bundle includes Powerloader figurine, "xeno hive" box, four multiplayer characters from 1986 movie, weapons, and customization options.

When Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines arrives in 2013, players will be able to pick up a $100 collector's edition of the spacebound shooter, the company announced today. The highlight of the premium bundle, due out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, is the Powerloader figurine (pictured), which will come inside a "xeno hive" box.

On top of this, the Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition will pack in four characters stemming from the 1986 film Aliens. These characters will be playable in the game's multiplayer component and include Private Hudson, Corporal Hicks, Private Drake, and Sergeant Apone.

In addition, the premium bundle contains Ripley's flamethrower, exclusive multiplayer weapons (sonic electronic ball breakers and the phase plasma rifle), the USCM Academy firing range game level, unspecified character customization options, and a USCM dossier that contains various documents.

On top of announcing the Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition, Gearbox revealed that those who preorder the game will score the previously mentioned Aliens multiplayer characters, Ripley's flamethrower, and character customization options.

The Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition and preorder content will be made available to all for purchase sometime after launch, a Gearbox representative told GameSpot. Exact timing and pricing details will be announced at a later date.

Additionally, Gearbox confirmed to GameSpot this afternoon that there are no plans for a PC collector's edition for Aliens: Colonial Marines in North America, but a premium Windows bundle will be available internationally. As for the Wii U version--which will be the best-looking, according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford--Gearbox said, "We will have more news on that front at a later time."

Aliens: Colonial Marines was recently delayed to February 12, 2013, after previously being scheduled to ship this fall. The Wii U version has not yet been assigned a release date.

The story of Aliens: Colonial Marines picks up shortly after the events of the 1986 sci-fi film Aliens. Players will join a squad of the titular space soldiers who board the USS Sulaco, the spaceship from the film, after it is apparently abandoned. From there the action will spread to the surface of the planet LV-426 and its main settlement, Hadley's Hope. The first-person shooter will also feature environments and weapons inspired by the film.

This game deserves the title as successor to Aliens. Let's all pretend that the hideous "Alien 3" movie never happened. When I saw it in the theater as a teen and they showed Kyle and Newt killed, I almost walked out.

Who the hell is that in the loader? I want Ripley!

I had an action figure of her once but she mysteriously disappeared.

Im such a sucker for collector editions

"Collector's Edition," "Special Edition," etc.

I don't know why they use euphemisms.  Just call it by its correct name: "Dork Edition."

I prefer "over priced crap edition" myself .It just extra crap that you have   throw away after you tired  of it , usually in 6-24 months.

DeathMetalPizza 45 pts

Man I don't wanna pay a hundred bucks just to play as Hicks.

kennythomas26 111 pts

I'm going to get this collectors edition for sure.

So you get to visit an empty space ship (SULACO) and then go down to a smoking hole in the surface of LV426 (destroyed when the reactor overheated) I smell some loop holes in the plot.

sum_guy09 9 pts

i'm sorry but this thing looks retarded & i'm afraid it might ruin my chances of getting laid if its seen in my room. just give me the game.

Do not want, but this leads me to believe there will be a powerloader in the game. Cool.

Dustyn-Barlow 22 pts

I really want this franchise to succeed because i love the alien movies but im terrified this is going to be the whole "Duke Nukem"  fiasco all over again. Were i buy the super awesome $150 dollar edition and it comes with a few trinkets, crap dlc and an god awful game.  BALLS OF STEEL EDITION!!!!! QUIT HAUNTING ME!!!!!!

Norrie91 107 pts

This just turned into the Alien vs. Predator Special Edition.

A Must Buy. I bought the SE of AvP just for the Facehugger, now a Powerloader?

*Runs to Amazon to Preorder*

Gladestone1 48 pts

This is in my top10 this year..Ill be getting the collectors edition now just for this package..

mattcake 106 pts

I usually don't care for these collectors editions, but the iconic image of Ripley in the powerloader suit fighting the alien is pretty damn cool...

Apathetic_Prick 22 pts

Neat characters, but where's Ripley and Vasquez?  Also, for a collector's edition of a game based on one of the best sequels ever, I would think that the non-director's cut (because most of the added scenes are recycled footage anyway) signed by Sigourney Weaver being added in would perhaps justify a $100 edition of a game that's going to sell based on name alone.  Not multiplayer characters and a $5 plastic carton.  Just saying.

BloomerNYC 95 pts

We've seen quite a lot from a game that isn't coming out until february...

I clap my hands as a child entertained full of excitement.

Johny_47 253 pts

I'd love if it was Ripley inside the loader and if you press a button she said "Get away from her you b****!" =)

Very cool collector edition but I doubt I'll have enough for it, regular version is all I really want.

4-Legged-Shark 42 pts

no PC collectors edition??? WTF I don't want to have to have the shittiest version of the game just so i can get that awesome looking box and miniature power-loader. Jesus, I guess i'll have to buy a Wii-U then.

scatterbrain007 80 pts

This is probably the only Collector's Edition package I have any interest in. Always wanted a powerloader.  I agree with a couple of people below me though, shoulda included Vasquez instead of Drake.

tenakakhan 7 pts

scatterbrain007 Noooooooooo, jump three times and say a Hail Mary! You cannot be dissin' the Drake! :) Hehe, agreed, Vasquez should be in, but in addition to, not instead of, Drake. Aaaaaaaabsolute bad asses!

thereal-15-cent 497 pts

$40 extra for that is a bit much. That's almost enough to buy a whole new game... Try $80, Gearbox.

TERMINATOR-SSD 161 pts

damn it, i wanted a PC version.....

premium Windows bundle, so will that include a colour manual then lol

A5us 5 pts

Do Gamespot ship to New Zealand I really want this game?

DarthLod 1137 pts

Always with the stupid C.E with every freakin' game now. It's tired. Here is an idea, how about ONE version with EVERYTHING on the disk no matter what store you buy it at? No Pre-Order exclusive, no Store exclusive, no Day 1 DLC!!!!!! God I miss the older days of gaming when it didn't have all this garbage. .

megakick 293 pts

LOL this is what they spend time doing special edition, not making the game D:

Megavideogamer 431 pts

Private Hudson "The Wii U is going to be the best looking version?" "This can't be happening!" "Game over Man!"

Lotus-Edge 351 pts

They can't even get the game out on time, yet they can make some super-unneeded bundle pack. Yeah, no....

phatsanta 136 pts

Lotus-Edge ahhh HELL YEAH SUPER AWESOME BUNDLE PACK...looks like someone needs some patience *smug face*

parrot_of_adun 403 pts

Lotus-Edge That's really not how this works. You don't get coders and artists manufacturing plastic bits and bobs. Nothing about this package in any way reflects the time the development team is spending.

kingster113 11 pts

Lotus-Edge LOL. You think gearbox is a company of ONLY 5-6 programmers and artists? All these collector's item are handled by marketing department and maybe some input from the other departments. It is not by the developers. It's 2 different things.

SixTwoOne 22 pts

Agreed... NEED  Vasquez!  She was bad as*!

Offworlder1 7 pts

They should have had the woman Marine Vasquez instead of Drake, she had more screen time and is more known. Happy about the CE and the love they have for "Aliens". I will be going on this bug hunt ASAP.

botswanky 51 pts

It's good to see the game has been delayed, because it looked seriously boring.

Hopefully they'll spend some time making this game more than just another rehash of the Aliens' movie best action scenes. Not holding my breath though...

Anema1986 45 pts

for a fan  like me, this could be a must buy

too bad im poor :P

darkvaper 47 pts
