Alenia Aeronautica
Alenia Aerospazio, a Finmeccanica company, includes numerous facilities, including laboratories and research centres. The company is divided into two divisions; The Aeronautics division and the Space division. Activities include the design and development of military and civil aircraft and UAVs, production and structural parts for commercial aircraft as well as overhaul, modification and maintenance of military and commercial aircraft. Alenia Aerospazio also design and develops complete space systems, communication, remote sensing, scientific and meteorological satellites, space station components, launch systems, space transportation and re-entry systems and space software. The Aeronautics division covers military and civil aircraft, both in design and manufacture, and modification and product support. The majority of these activities involve collaboration with other international aerospace companies. Previously known as Aeritalia, the company makes the ATR series with Aerospatiale. The company is responsible for the providing major fuselage sections for the 100 seater Boeing 717 aircraft (formerly the McDonnell Douglas MD-95.
