Portal 2 adds PS Move support next week

Valve's puzzler on PS3 to support Sony's motion controller with new update November 6; "In Motion" DLC also out that day for $10.

PlayStation 3 gamers will be able to control Valve's puzzler Portal 2 in an all new way next week. Sony has announced that Portal 2 for PS3 will support PlayStation Move with the arrival of a new update November 6. The game's entire single-player and cooperative campaigns will support motion control through the free update.

Additionally, Sony announced that the Portal 2 "In Motion" downloadable content will arrive alongside the update next Tuesday. This content was developed by Sixense with an aim to be the "defining experience" for PlayStation Move, Sony said. It will be available for $10 and PlayStation Plus subscribers can enjoy a 30 percent markdown, bringing its cost to about $7.

The Portal 2 "In Motion" DLC includes 20 test chambers that scale in difficulty from tutorial levels to advanced scenarios. Gamers can play as either Atlas or P-Body in the content and leverage new motion features like 1-to-1 object control, "Portal Surfing," and scaling cubes.

Gamers who enjoy the Portal 2 "In Motion" DLC may be happy to know there appears to be more motion-control content for the game in the pipeline. Sixense said the new content is "just the beginning," but did not elaborate further.

Also out November 6 will be a digital version of Portal 2 through the PlayStation Network. No price for the full-game download was announced. For more on Portal 2, check out GameSpot's review.

I still wish Valve would release the original Portal on PSN. I already own that game on Steam but I would definitely pick it up for $9.99 on PSN with trophies.

Dear Valve,  Great game, but let's get these F***ing DLCs out faster. I've been playing BF3, BL2, Dishonored... I almost forgot that Portal 2 still exsisted. GET THE CONTENT OUT FASTER!  - Sincerly, Frustrated gamer.

Spartan_418 1146 pts

Codester_41 If it were any developer other than Valve, that would be a reasonable request. However, Valve simply doesn't care how long the players have to wait for something. For example, Half-Life 3 is always three or more years away, at any given moment.

flammable_zeus 138 pts

Spartan_418  Codester_41 So glad they went for episodic content instead of full sequels. Imagine the wait if that was the case.

Too bad I sold my PS3 copy to just keep the PC copy that came with it so long ago.

No worries, the next Call of Duty will practically play itself for you, no thinking required. You just shoot anything that moves and walk down the hallway tot he next over the top action scene.

PS3 Portal 2 version is already great as it came with the PC version for free, it allowed you to play with PC gamers/friends along with PS3 friends, and it came with Steamworks. Pretty radical.

I suppose this is nice for Move fans as well.

Portal is one of the most unique games ever made!  You probably could not make it out the first test chamber, but that's ok...you should go back to school anyways.

Hell ya!!! Portal 2!!! Gotta love Valve and of course GLaDOS ;)

Nahhh maybe just Valve, awwwh who am I kidding GLaDOS was awesome too lol

mboettcher 93 pts

Great.  PC gets the level editor, PS gets this DLC and so far nothing new for the Xbox version of Portal 2.  I guess this is just bad karma for that Skyrim DLC debacle.

maxordw 10 pts

 mboettcher kinect support maybe?

mboettcher 93 pts

maxordw Tempting, but still no reason to buy a kinect.

Toysoldier34 507 pts

maxordw  mboettcher Kinect isn't accurate enough to do many of the more advanced levels with.

anothrgamer1234 35 pts

 Toysoldier34  maxordw  mboettcher

Actualy, this was on the PC. The levels were created as part of a promotional bundlefor Sixsense's Razer Hydra controller. Here's the evidence:

It is quite literally the same thing. On the positive side, you don't have to spend over 100 dollars for it this time.

mboettcher 93 pts

Toysoldier34  maxordw Because HD cameras would have made the Kinect prohibitively expensive this generation.  Kinect might be a good peripheral, but probably not until next generation when there is more processing power to crunch HD video data.

zzamaro 408 pts

mboettcher Don't forget cross play among PC and PS3 players.

mboettcher 93 pts

zzamaro Yeah, why a Microsoft console doesn't play nice with a mostly Microsoft Windows based world is beyond me.  The things I'll do for Halo and Gears of War.

YoungCardinal 40 pts

I think I might knwo why they don't cross-platform well...

Microsoft wouldn't sell as many games on the console if they were available on the PC.

The 'Xbox' was designed with the DirectX API so there really shouldn't be an excuse why they couldn't simply port the games with mouse/keyboard support.

707107 59 pts

 mboettcher Good point.

Clearly Valve understands the PS3 more than Bathesda.

Honestly Bethesda's excuse for no DLC for Skyrim on PS3 is lame and insulting, but this is the wrong place for this for that.

Toysoldier34 507 pts

mboettcher It is bad Karma for Microsoft and putting so many limits on their stuff. Valve would have added steam works to the 360 version but Microsoft wouldn't allow them too.
