Kevin Franklin from 343 Industries talks about multiplayer in Halo 4 at MLG Dallas.
This looks great
Okay, given and only given the fact that they are incorporating RPG elements, this game is sounding better than the stock FPS, saying a whole lot...Still, how do I know that they aren't just admitting with chagrin and by implication that League of Legends and such are just the way to go, and sort of following their albeit late and/or very late and dubious lead? Until I see a much needed revolution, this is just another FPS. I want and I expect so much more from games of every genre when f2p's appear that in some ways just kill.
tgwolf id's wolfenstein: enemy territory (2004) and gearbox's borderlands (2010) were the only two FPS to try something different in the last 10 years. that's why the young kids like them so much and the older croud is like, "UGHH! another FPS with nothing new!??"
the young crowd hasn't experienced FPS games so it's all new and exciting fun for them but the older crown has already "been there and done that."
:( <-- i'm old lol
buccomatic tgwolf
I dunno about the /only/ FPS games to do something new, but ET and Borderlands are definitely some defining examples of a step in the right direction - the mechanics they had weren't just minor gameplay gimmicks, they were core features. I think that if they had really had more time to polish it, Brink would've been a huge improvement to ET, being made by the same people and all.
And don't feel too bad about being old, I turn 21 on Halo 4 day and I still feel like I'm part of the dwindling breed of people that got to enjoy the glory days. :P
Nice to see that there will be both XP and trueskill rank.
