After the "every decision is a bad decision" third episode, "The Long Road Home," (my review), Telltale Games opted to follow up with a more action-oriented episode of The Walking Dead with "Around Every Corner." The continuation of the band of survivors' adventure finds them in the ruins of Savannah, Georgia on two little-to-no-hope missions: locating Clementine's parents and finding a working boat in order to possibly find an unoccupied island or safe haven at sea.

In contrast to the many emotional, wrenching decision Lee had to make in episode three, many of the choices in the penultimate episode boil down to managing the group so that you can more effectively reach the end game next episode. And while this feels like the most adventure game-y of the series, it also loses some of the last impact of previous episodes.

In a post-PAX Prime progress report, developer Harebrained Schemes showed off some of the visuals featuring street ninjas, deckers, meta-humans, and the rain-slick streets of a cybermagic Seattle area.

Among some of the details revealed in the post: why the team chose a blend of 2D/3D visuals for the upcoming reboot, handling character customization using 3D models, and how the game will handle day/night cycles (it won't be dynamic). What Harebrained Schemes is showing off now isn't actually in-game, but instead assets manipulated and tweaked in Photoshop to give us a sense of what they've been up to.

You should really head over to the post to check out what they've been building for their tactical RPG for PCs, Macs, and tablet devices, and after the jump we've included all of the images for you to peruse.

This review will be shorter than others since I've heaped enough praise on The Walking Dead with its first two episodes. I'll say again what I said the first two times: Telltale has created a series of wrenching, emotional decisions in the middle of a collection of not-too-hard puzzles in a visually-impressive adaptation of the Robert Kirkman comic series (with some nods to the TV show).

Really, we're just talking details this time around, as the latest episode, "Long Road Ahead" tears at your guts with three abrupt, horrible deaths (and one possibly off-screen) as increasingly, Lee and Clementine's group begins to shrink and lose hope. And that's actually the most remarkable thing about this episode: how utterly, completely feeling lost and without hope you'll feel after the events of Telltale's latest.
