Look, I feel this is inevitable...with Disney/Star Wars dominating the current newscycle like a giant rampaging Wampa, the heat is on Warner Bros. to counter with some kick-ass "Justice League" movie news or something of that magnitude. "Star Wars Episode VII" is going head-to-head with the "JL" film, fer heaven's sake! So is "Avengers," but that's Marvel/Disney...which brings on even MORE pressure for that jaw-dropping, pants-wetting news. (Read more about the "Justice League" movie at MTV Splashpage)

Then again, it may not be about "Justice League" at all. Maybe the WB will acquire their own cool multi-billion dollar franchise and tell the world about it. Here's my completely baseless guesses, once again donning my Sally Speculator cap of pure guessery: Read More...

If you had these two pumpkins at your door -- based on some of DC's most terrifying super-villains -- you'd scare off those annoying little trick-or-treaters for sure! Nothing but tricks this year! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

MTV Geek LOVES Halloween -- so we've decided to share our fave frightful movies, TV shows, comics, and books with you all month long!

Before innocently stumbling upon "New Teen Titans" #3 at the age of 10, I assumed that most comics were about smiles, adventure, some light rough-housing, and Captain Carrot. Sure, there seemed to be a little bit of sex creeping into my comics -- an issue of the original "New Teen Titans" (to be soon called "Tales of the Teen Titans"....it was super-confusing re-naming/rebooting before that sort of stuff was cool) featured the nearly naked duo of Starfire and Wonder Girl lounging by a pool wearing what the latter referred to as "strings with gland conditions."

But one thing I never encounted in my comics -- execept for the occasional "Superman/Batman is a skeleton on the cover because he dies but not really" -- was pure unadulturated gore. Read More...

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor hail, nor a combination of every weather pattern imaginable thrown together into a horrific monstrosity can stop the comics*. This week, we’re most excited about the landmark BPRD: HELL ON EARTH #100 from Dark Horse! Things have been looking bad for our paranormal investigating heroes for a while, but without spoiling anything, things in this issue get way, way worse. That thing you suspected the title “Return of the Master” was referring to? Well, Mike Mignola and company show their hand this issue, and you were, in fact, correct. Yipes.

So you wanna make a Justice League movie (head over to MTV Splashpage for more scoops!). Fine, knock yourselves out. We’ll go see it – BUT here’s the big query – WHICH Justice League will you be filming? Oh there be a bevy to choose from. But which line-up? And who to play whom?

Here’s the thingy: "The Avengers" stomped the Dark Knight’s butt. It pains me to say this but 'tis true. Joss Whedon, nerd bard extraordinaires’ action-thrilled romp through Manhattan bested Christopher Nolan’s final chapter of the city of Gotham and the Caped Crusader. But you don’t me to tell you that. Nor does Warner Brothers need to be reminded BUT remind them they shall be whenever Marvel does anything new. Plus with the Green Lantern movie tanking – dat smarts! Read More...

With the success of "Arrow," one can only imagine that the folks at DC are peeking into their vaults looking for other properties to develop as TV series (as they are currently doing with Wonder Woman). Here's a few suggestions I have for making the most of their superheroes for a sophisticated mass market audience: Read More...

The new series "Talon," from DC Comics, is like if you took the best parts of why fangirls loved "Nightwing" and then cranked it up to 11.

Spun out of the labyrinthine shenanigans of the "Court of Owls"/"Night of the Owls" storylines in "Batman," the story of Calvin Rose is very reminiscent of ronin narratives such as the movie "Ghost Dog." A hitman for the "Illuminati"-like Owls, Rose one day refuses a mission -- killing a two-year old girl (read up on last month's "Talon" #0 for the deets). Realizing that he's been working for Really Bad People all this time, Rose -- one of many "Talons" -- goes on the run for his life. And gets beaten up, chained up, naked, stabbed, drugged, etc. a lot. A lot. Read More...

take that, old papery dinosaur media!

Superman alter-ego Clark Kent is no fool -- why work for an hoary old workhorse like The Daily Planet (which has been recently purchased by multimedia giant Galaxy Broadcasting), when he can just strike out on his own armed with nothing but a WordPress account and a dream (and, well, tons of superpowers).

In Superman #13, hitting stands this Wednesday, Kent does exactly that -- having a "Jerry Maguire" moment where he realizes integrity is more important than fluffy news items and softball interview questions. As "Superman" writer Scot Lobdell explained to USA Today:

Whether the new TV series "Arrow" was going to be a hit or a trick-arrow-bomb was a real toss-up. On one hand, we had an entire decade of "Smallville." On the other hand, 2002's "Birds Of Prey" only lasted 13 episodes.

"BoP" at least had the cachet of being somewhat related to the lucrative Bat-franchise. But taking a chance on Green Arrow was like taking a chance on...Aquaman. Or Iron Man.

Well, "Arrow" has just been picked up for a full 22-episode season run (read all about it at MTV Splashpage) -- and is doing gangbusters in the ratings!

Here are 5 reasons why I feel "Arrow" hit the target: Read More...

Next time you're in Kaohsiung, Taiwan make sure you stop by the Eden Hotel and book a few nights in this bonkers, Batman-themed room.

The room is decorated with Bat logos, a Bat-Signal, a Tumbler couch, faux-Batcave walls, a mural of Gotham City and my favorite part, a painting of what appears to be Michael Keaton's Batman.

While Marvel is ending some of their biggest runs, and DC launches a new year of the New 52, the title we’re most excited about this week is GHOST #1 from Kelly Sue DeConnick and Phil Noto. The Dark Horse book follows right up on the serialized story from Dark Horse Presents, but DeConnick ably gets you right into the weird tale of a woman with possibly supernatural powers, the ghost hunters helping her out, and the weirdest box since "Hellraiser." Plus, Noto’s art and command of characters is fab. If you’re looking for a new title to jump on board, this is the one.

As MTV Splashpage reported this morning, the long-awaited Justice League movie finally has a release date -- and wouldn'tcha know it's the same year "Avengers 2" is coming out?

But competition only produces awesomer movies, I say, though I still have a few burning questions about said Justice League film: Read More...
