Included on this week's Blu-ray release of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is the motion comic The Great Calamity, which recounts a meeting between our night stalker-killing Commander-in-Chief and that tragically pickled author Edgar Allan Poe. Spearheading the short is Content Director and Producer Javier Soto.

Soto, whose resume includes working on the DVD features for the works of Guillermo del Toro spoke with us recently about bringing The Great Calamity to life, its origins, and how a fight between Moses and Mothra would go down.

As reported by MTV Splashpage yesterday, it looks like our 'Amazing Spider-Man 2: Amaze Harder' villain is none other than Electro... And Electro is going to be played by the star of the upcoming Django Unchained, Jamie Foxx!

So yeah, kind of left field casting, but looking back through the comic books thereā€™s a certain kind of sense to it - and certainly a number of different ways Director Marc Webb could go with the classic villain: Read More...

On January 30th, DC will continue to explore the Watchmen universe that Moore and Gibbons built with a one-shot focusing on a fallen hero. Len Wein and Steve Rude's Before Watchmen: Dollar Bill #1 will tell the story of a the late, lamented Bill Brady--athlete, actor, and masked member of the Minutemen as the corporate-sponsored Dollar Bill.

For Wein, the Eisner-winning co-creator of Swamp Thing and Wolverine--this was a chance to explore an unsung character withing the Watchmen canon, a man better known for the tragic, almost ridiculous way he died, as detailed by retired superhero Hollis Mason in the series' book-within-the-book, Under The Hood. "He's never been visited before. Of all the Watchmen, he's the one with the least information given about him over the course of the series," Wein says of the appeal in exploring the life of the character.

As Dark Horse Comics President Mike Richardson posted on Facebook yesterday, yesterday's Disney/Lucasfilm merger is likely to have some sort of impact on their decades-long relationship with the "Star Wars" franchise:

"Dark Horse and LucasFilm have a strong partnership which spans over 20 years, and has produced multiple characters and story lines which are now part of the Star Wars lore. Star Wars will be with us for the near future. Obviously, this deal changes the landscape, so we'll all have to see what it means for the future." Read More...

Wolverine and the X-Men writer Jason Aaron joined artist Nick Bradshaw (Danger Girl, Army of Darkness) and editor Nick Lowe to talk about the future of the Marvel ongoing.

Issue #19 is out this week and it begins a new direction for the book. Here's what the creative team behind the series had to say about what's in store for the constantly-imperiled School For Gifted Youngsters.

MTV Geek LOVES Halloween -- so we've decided to share our fave frightful movies, TV shows, comics, and books with you all month long!

Before innocently stumbling upon "New Teen Titans" #3 at the age of 10, I assumed that most comics were about smiles, adventure, some light rough-housing, and Captain Carrot. Sure, there seemed to be a little bit of sex creeping into my comics -- an issue of the original "New Teen Titans" (to be soonĀ called "Tales of the Teen Titans"....it was super-confusing re-naming/rebooting before that sort of stuff was cool) featured the nearly naked duo of Starfire and Wonder Girl lounging by a poolĀ wearing what the latter referred to as "strings with gland conditions."

But one thing I never encounted in my comics -- execept for the occasional "Superman/Batman is a skeleton on the cover because he dies but not really" -- was pure unadulturated gore. Read More...

First, and most importantly, we hope you all are staying safe out there with the oncoming storm. And if youā€™re like us, youā€™re hunkering down with a flashlight under the covers, reading through your old comics and waiting out Hurricane Sandy. Mid-way through a copy of Claremont-era X-Men, it occurred to us just how many comic book heroes ā€“ and villains ā€“ are named after bad weather. Hereā€™s ten of our favorites:

Here's an amazing Halloween treat: the folks at FOX's upcoming ADHD have "leaked" the first animated clip from the "Axe Cop" cartoon... And Axe Cop is voiced by none other than (an uncredited) Ron Frickin' Swanson himself, Nick Offerman. Mind go kablooie.

Check out the video, and some more big news after that:

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor hail, nor a combination of every weather pattern imaginable thrown together into a horrific monstrosity can stop the comics*. This week, weā€™re most excited about the landmark BPRD: HELL ON EARTH #100 from Dark Horse! Things have been looking bad for our paranormal investigating heroes for a while, but without spoiling anything, things in this issue get way, way worse. That thing you suspected the title ā€œReturn of the Masterā€ was referring to? Well, Mike Mignola and company show their hand this issue, and you were, in fact, correct. Yipes.

I loves me aĀ tasty comics conspiracy story, and the article "Alan Moore and Superfolks Part 1: The Case for the Prosecution" on The Beat is as good as it gets. The schadenfreude is all there -- accusations ofĀ one of the most famous comic authors of all time stealing borrowing concepts from a lesser-known work, rumblings of a possible feud between industry titans, and more. As it's only one of a three-part post, there's probably still a lot to be revealed here. But here's what's on the table so far: Read More...

A few weeks ago we showed you some awesome Lord of the Rings stained glass art, but they were only drawings made to look like stained glass. This stained glass Iron Man, on the other hand, is the real deal. Created by Etsy shop owner R Evan Daniels, the impressive piece is inspired by Iron Man's latest armor and measures 31"x47".
