I love you for picking Plastic Man, Zatanna and Grodd. Love you dude. But..... You dissed my boy. You dissed him fucking hard. Dick Grayson is a boss. He was the least interesting Robin, yes. But then this little shit, grows a mullet and becomes a fucking boss. He was a better Batman than Bruce has been in a decade for christ sakes! Never mind all the years in between, where they fleshed him out and made him more interesting than anyone thought possible. I slap you with dueling glove Wrench. When this game comes out: Ten paces and turn. You and me. We're settling this.
Sorry for fanboying out and cursing so much. I actually deleted 2 paragraphs of ranting too. Nightwing is seriously my boy though. Also Cyrax (My MK boy) drops the bombs not Sektor (missiles). We are still fighting though. Oh yes. We are.
Philken's reaction makes the post complete.
Also, is it just me or is Darkseid totally just holding his chrome vibe, chilling in his multi-screen wank-room like he's waiting for you to take a hint and GTFO?
On-topic, these are some great selections - good pulls from the DC deck, and interesting potential combatants in a fighting game.
I guess Hawkgirl is a shoe-in right? That's why she's not on this list. I get it.

A DC game without Nightwing would kind of be like a Marvel game without Spiderman.
You also have to keep in mind this is probably pulling from the New 52 more than previous eras, so I doubt Amazo or Prometheus would even be options.
I'm all for Zatanna, but I'd also like Batwoman or Catwoman. Poison Ivy for the villains because of most of the female villains out there she actually would work great in a fighter. I mean, you already have Solomon Grundy in there.
Green Lanterns... eh, has to be Hal. John Stewart I always found boring.
I'd also like to see Steel and Static, I know Static got cancelled, but he's still in the universe. I'd say Hardware, too, but he has too much in common with Steel to be unique, so it would have to be one or the other.
Also, Bane. Though fuck Rocksteady for that shitty design that's leaked into the comics. Hopefully the movie will force another redesign for him >.>

I think the point of this article was to suggest some of the less obvious picks, I mean, yeah, Catwoman and Ivy are probably locks, its a DC thing right?
Steel I'd like to see.
Maybe I just like hitting people with heavy things.

I'm glad my fanboy freakout pleased someone. I stand by it though. The boy grew a mullet and fucking rocked it. He didn't bat an eye. Mullets weren't even cool or ironically cool when he did it either. It gave him power. Then, alright then.... He shaves it off. Gives away his POWER. Still is a boss. Case closed.
@ TSP - Now that you mention it...they killed Prometheus in that one miniseries with Green Arrow, but hey. This New 52 thing leaves the door wide open for him to come back.
It wouldn't really even be a comeback, would it? More like a reinterpretation. Could be cool even though Morrison's concept was perfect.
And yeah, Hulk Bane sucks. One of the only things I don't like about the Arkham games is the cartoony nature of some of the villains. He and Croc take a lot of the shine off for me. The other big guy didn't bother me so much because his surprise appearance actually worked.

My only context is from the cartoons. So Plastic Man is a hilarious buffoon with Deadpool-sensibilities, Zatanna is a sexy magician girl, and my Green Lantern was black.
I'd like to see the Riddler as a character entirely based around parries and setting traps. He just throws down mines or wire traps or whatever. And with a taunt super move like Dan in Street Fighter.
Every game needs their joke character.

- Phil, Wow, you should have seen the stuff I deleted about Nightwing because it seemed too harsh. I'm up for a duel when the game comes out, no way am I going down to a guy that rocked a mullet for nigh on a decade.
My bad on the Sektor/Cyrax mix-up. Man, how could I confuse such distinct and unique personalities? :p
- Sir Legendhead, Was he? Well I guess that bumps him up a few notches on the "likely to appear" list then (and beats me down the originality scale). I gotta be honest, I'm not really familiar with Prometheus. Looking at those pictures though he looks somewhat like a Batman Judge Dredd. Judge Batt. Yeah.
- Stahlbrand, ... you just ruined that picture of Darkseid for me. I guess even hell-despots need a little "alone" time now and again.
I forgot about Hawkgirl! She would actually be a cool choice too.
- Silent Protagonist, Yeah, this list isn't a compilation of what I think will be in the game, it's what I would like to see in the game. Sadly, I'm pretty sure we won't see any mutant apes no matter how much I beg.
I can see Steel or Static in there. Static might be a little young for the level of violence in the game depending on what incarnation you're talking about. Not sure how cool it would be to kick a freshmen through a cement wall. But an older version would probably work.
- Strider, Yup, you pretty much got it! I'm a big fan of the DCAU too and some of my picks probably reflect that. Some of the other Injustice League members featured on JLU like Shade or Giganta would be cool to see as well.
- Caliban, Neat idea implementing a hard character to pull off! Maybe give him an alt costume as the Clock King? I can see that methodical style of fighting working for him too.

@ Wrenchfarm - Prometheus was able to program his brain with the fighting styles of, well, pretty much anyone. Like the Taskmaster, only with a dependence on tech. Batman beat him in the previous links by replacing his combat programming with Stephen Hawking's neural data. Can't fight when you can't move, right?
Obvious weakness aside, I could totally see him in a Shang Tsung role. It might not make perfect sense for him to imitate natural powers along with techniques, but then again they're playing fast and loose with in-universe logic anyway. If they stayed absolutely true to the source material, Superman would break the game.

Actually, if they were going with in-universe logic, the Batman would kick everyone's ass and not everyone able to kick everyone's ass.
I'm gonna quick hits this one:
Well this was a lovely article. I'm glad you understand how utterly useless and morally reprehensible Nightwing is.
Gorilla Grodd would be an awesome choice, though I think I'm more of a monsieur Mallah and the Brain fan.
I wish they would have had Metallo instead of Cyborg. Metallo is visually more interesting and could have had some really vicious moves while Cyborg looks like something Shaq would turn into if he was in a cartoon about the apocalypse.
Platic Man. Nailed it. I fucking love Plastic Man. The moves he could pull off, just the sheer variety and absurdity of it would be amazing. I can only imagine his super moves.
I think Darkseid would be a great fit. Omega Beams all up in this bitch.
Personally, I'd like to see Animal Man in this. He's had a bit of a resurgence in popularity with the new comic and of course the Grant Morrison run remains a classic. They could do some interesting stuff with his powers in the game.
Lobo. This is the one character I want more than anyone else in the game. I'm a huge Lobo fan and this game feels perfect for him. He's not exactly super popular but well-known enough to be easily recognized in the game and I think he would be a good contrast to the more proper, well-known characters.
Really love your comic articles. They are so fun to read.

Since I lack any kind of real comic knowledge the only thing I can really add is that I would absolutely looooove to play as a gorilla. I would probably purchase the game exclusively to do that.
-Occams, Thanks man! Monsieur Mallah is the superior simian and I bow to your ape wisdom. I'm not a huge Lobo fan myself, but I'd love him in a fighting game just so I could be an ingracious winner. Shouting "WHO'S THE MAIN MAN!?" until I'm hoarse and no longer welcome in my friend's house.
-Phil, Wow, you're going to get double teamed. Just like Nightwing during his academy hazings. Ooooh!
-Glowbear, Deadshot in his smarmy JLU-bad-moustache characterization would be great!
-Corduroy, Hum, maybe it's time for a Primal Rage remake? Lord knows all the other fighting franchises are being resurrected. Could our modern consoles finally realize the dream?
