Rockstar has announced that the "GTA 5" mentioned in recently aired GAME Brighton promotional materials is, indeed, the same GTA 5 they're planning to publish in spring 2013. Sucks to be you, [insert random videogame also releasing in spring 2013].
"Grand Theft Auto V builds on everything we've learned about open world game design," Rockstar Games co-founder Sam Houser told investors in a release, adding "We can't wait to share it with fans." Slow down, son! He sure does like to gush, that Sam Houser.
"Developed by series creator Rockstar North," reads an attached blurb. "Grand Theft Auto V takes place in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California in the largest and most thriving game-world we have ever created set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and for miles beyond - from the tops of the mountains to the depths of the ocean."
Pre-orders for the game will be accepted from 5th November onwards. And that's pretty much it, save for a picture of a nubile woman. Read all the most recent GTA 5 facts and rumours here.

I'm a bit annoyed that R* have been forced into announcing a vague time frame for release, but I'm glad that the waiting for any kind of news is over. After Christmas they should give us a solid release date, and then we can prepare for probably the last AAA title of this generation.

Depths of the ocean? Submarines? scuba diving? Bond villain bases? Jizzum.

R* love that April/May release window so I was never really expecting it to be anything else.
EDIT: Looking at afore mentioned nubile woman's face (yes she does have one guys) is that Yvonne Strahovski of Chuck and Mass Effect fame? Looks awfully like her to me.

No I don't reckon, looks more like fergie from Black Eyed Peas. Is that a penis joke for the apple logo? Ha! I loved the bowling penis joke in IV, it was all big lebowski in the bowling alleys, and some guy kept telling people to 'shut the fup up'.
You're out of your element!

I'd rather it was released on the next console; Q1 2013 is already packed, not sure I can fit GTAV in.

Same here, but I can't wait a year. It'll be silly if their engine isn't scalable and they don't release on the gert in october too, if that's the release for gert. I'll buy it in march-may and I'll buy the super frame rate version because I expect it to be terrible on 360.

Yeah release it as soon as possible,i can't wait for next gen. either.Hopefully it won't suffer too much because it is this gen.put it this way if it runs and looks half as good as Max that;s me happy.

Well, I can't begin to describe my excitement (and relief) for the announcement; I've being gradually spending much less money (and time) on my Xbox (Haven't bought a game for over a year now). I really began to despair when rumours that GTA V could be released on the next-gen consoles surfaced, as I really didn't want to have to spend £300+ just so I could buy this game.
Anyways I'm thrilled that not only is this not the case, but that after a long....long....wait it's finally on the horizon.
ROLL ON SPRING 2013!

Most likely within the next 2 or 3 weeks. It would make a lot of sense to post on the 2nd as it will be 1 year precisely that the first trailer hit the expanses of the internet. If not, your suggestion seems very likely as it will coincide with the release of the Game Informer - GTA V 18 page extravaganza!!
